Aussie in USA Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 Hey all, great site. I used it recently to help with my Vegas stay with the family (will post the details on the Vegas forums now I am registered) and I am now looking for help with LA.I am very interested in staying in Universal city and after recent posts it seems like the HOTWIRE 4 star option is Sheraton Universal but the other option seems to be the Hilton Glenwood which seems to be a long way from citywalk and the Metro station. Is there anyway to differentiate the Hilton Glenwood from the Sheraton Universal based on recent experiences? If I was to end up at the Glenwood Hilton how far from the action would we be. As an Aussie we (or you guys) drive on the wrong side of the road and I am a little worried about driving so I have to cab or public transport the family about. Does anyone have any advice?Best regards Jimbo
thereuare Posted August 27, 2011 Report Posted August 27, 2011 What dates is this for, Aussie? Can you please also add the dates of your stay to your Priceline Las Vegas thread.Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Aussie in USA Posted August 27, 2011 Author Report Posted August 27, 2011 Yes I can and will post LV dates ASAP. Also apologies about the dates, I am still learning but intend using this site frequently as I will be doing lots of Travel in the US to watch NFL in the coming years and will always use you guys to help and book through Priceline or Hotwire. I wish I had seen this site before I booked my NY stay. Without you guys here I would have been a little lost dealing with them. Thanks to whoever runs and Admins this site.I am now staying in LA at Universal Sheraton between 16th and 20th September. It cost me 106.11 (AUD) or 111 (USD) per room per night for four nights at the Sheraton for 995.61 in total with Taxes. This represented a $500+ saving in the direct arrangements I had made with Sheraton even with their "stay two nights for the same $ as the year you were born deal"After I posted this last night I got onto the chat line with a Hotwire representative and basically indicated that if she could narrow it down to ANY four star hotel closer to Universal City, (I was worried I would get the Glendale Hilton after reading the stickies on here), I could do the deal ASAP. She was very helpful and actually gave me a rate and a link that didn't appear through my normal search and said I can do this but you need to get it done ASAP. She then sent me three or four reviews which said things like "loved the hotel, we could walk to Universal Studio's from the hotel". She did everything but teall me it was the Sheraton. I found her very very helpful and would recommend doing the online chat to get a little more detail before you sign up.
