Priceline Hotel: 4* San Francisco (Financial District-Embarcadero) Omni

I started my bidding at 150$ for a 4* in Union Square East and had to increase the bid by adding Japan Town and San Francisco south and finally decided to add Embarcadero because I was not willing to pay more.

I still think it's a good deal since I couldn't find any room for less using HOTWIRE, Expedia, Hotels.com, tripadvisor....The average was 200$ for a 3*.

SF seems so expensive in August!

Sorry to see these proved to be expensive dates in the area... did you bid $200 in the others zones first and then add the Embarcadero to your previous bid... or did you first bid lower in the Embarcadero area as well?

I addedd the Embarcadero right after Union Square East because the area was also fine for me. Therefore I couldn't get any room for less then 200$ in both Union Square East and Embarcadero.

Right, so this was potentially an overbid since you never gave yourself a chance to win the Embarcadero zone for less than $200/nite. A better approach would have been to close the browser, re-access PRICELINE, and start at a lower bid amount for just Embarcadero... then adding the zones you had previously bid while slowing raising your rate. Feel free to ask any questions you have in this regard or for helping before bidding for your next hotel stay.
