Hotwire Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Strip North) Trump

Hi there! I booked the 5-star north strip deal last week on Hotwire (august 19/20) and it was the Trump hotel. I paid $311 total, which I think is a great rate considering the official hotel reservation booking is offering those dates for $479. The problem is that as great as that hotel is, I really wanted to stay somewhere that has a casino on the property. Any advice about how I can get out of/transfer my reservation?

Since I'm already going to be in Las Vegas that weekend (just hopefully at another hotel) would it be possible to sell the reservation on craigslist or ebay and then add the name of whomever purchases it as a hotel guest and just check in with them? Could that possibly work?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Sorry to see you received a hotel which doesn't meet your needs for this trip.

Can you please add a reply to this thread with the room rate per nite (before fees and taxes) and the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

Trying to sell your reservation would be a violation of HOTWIRE's terms of use. Besides this point, the bigger issue (in my opinion) are all the things that could go wrong... the hotel may not be willing to allow another guest's name on the reservation and therefore require you to show up at check-in. Even if you were willing to do this, the room would be in your name, and should your 'guest' trash the room, cause a problem, take things from hotel room, etc, etc it could very easily come back to you.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board.

Why not call hotwire and explain to them you made a mistake in your reservation. If it is the first time youve had a problem, they may be willing to help you. If your willing to stay in another area, this would work out or if your willing to make a reservation for another date this would work out. Saying you just don't like the hotel you got won't do it because that is the risk you take with opaque sites. The fact that the hotel does not have a casino would have been apparent at time of booking because the hotels that do have casinos indicate that as an amenity.

I wouldn't recommend selling the room or giving it away unless it was to a friend or relative you trusted as any problems will come back to you.
