Priceline Hotel: Rejected: $75 for 3-star in Palo Alto

Tried booking a room for August 8 - 11. Started at $75. Rejected. Unlike many other locales, there are no sub-regions with only 2.5 stars or less so I'll have to wait 24 hours and try again. :-(

I never have a maximum bid per say. I just roll with it and see what happens.

2011-07-26 Update: I just tried $85 for Palo Alto for the same dates. No go. Then added Mountain View, keeping the bid at $85. No go. :-(

Have you checked availability for your dates?

All the reported 3* hotels in Palo Alto and Moutain View zones are sold out.

HOTWIRE only has a 2* for $88.

You'll probably need to bid a lower quality level than 3* or try other adjacent zones.

Everyone has some maximum bid... even if it's $1 less than what you can get at an acceptable hotel thru conventional retail channels? You need to check reates thru traditional booking channels to get a feel for rates for your specific dates, and make sure you don't over bid.
