xiamen Posted July 7, 2011 Author Report Posted July 7, 2011 Thanks for reply. I am looking for the dates for Aug 1st and Aug 2nd two nights. The Hotwire currently shows rate as $80. The hotels near Jersey city seem much more expensive. Since we will have a car, we are thinking that we can drive to a convenient PATH station and then take a train into NY. Is it practical? Is there a station which has reasonable Park and Ride rate? Thanks, xiamen
thereuare Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 Parking near a PATH station, assuming you're staying 12+ hours, will likely run approximately $25. Your better (in terms of affordability) would be to drive to the NJ Transit Park N Ride and take the bus into the city... assuming your hotel is not close enough to a bus stop, which would be the best option. The amenities above match previous reports for the Crowne Plaza so that would be my best guess for this one. HOWEVER, this HOTWIRE offer shows a TA rating of 3.5/5.0 whereas the current rating for this property at Tripadvisor is 3.0/5.0. This does raise some doubt as to this ID, but it doesn't exclude the Crowne Plaza since the TAi info shown by HOTWIRE is not updated in real time (it's only updated about once per month), so it's possible the TA rating has changed since HOTWIRE's last update. If the above is the Crowne Plaza, it's a one block walk to a bus into Manhattan. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. dahammer Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 Greetings, Hopefully, this is the Crowne Plaza as you can walk a block to the NJ Tranist Bus stop. If you end up with the Sheraton, you can drive to the North Bergen Park and Ride and catch the Route 320 bus into the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The rate for one car and one round trip bus ticket is $9.50. A companion round trip ticket is $6.00 and there is a reduced fare program for 62+, disabled, and children. Or, you can drive to the Secaucus Junction train station, I am unsure of the current parking rates, and take the train into Penn Station. Good Luck.
