DTW Detroit any class, $30 7/11 - 7/14

Need help booking a car rental in DTW from 7/11 - 7/14.

- Yesterday: attempted to bid $20 on priceline. Priceline recommended that I bid 64 for a good chance, 69 for a great chance.

- Attempted to rebid today for $30, same message: "bid 64 for a good chance, 69 for a great chance."

I'm a bit confused since Priceline claims that recent bids of $23 dollars are winning bids.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

What's the best rate you can find for 7/11-7/14 through conventional booking channels?

Hi & thx Colfax - lowest rates seem to be a "standard" model car through Enterprise. $78/ai per day :)

Hotwire's lowest rate is $64.86/day for Economy or Compact. Those are conventional rates though, through Enterprise, not opaque. If Hotwire doesn't have any opaque inventory then Priceline may not either, as the same rental companies use both services. (Other than Enterprise, which participates in Hotwire but not Priceline.)

Dollar has a compact for $63.16/day on their website.

I suggest you bid higher than $30 then, maybe $35 or $40. But it's possible Priceline just doesn't have anything for these dates now, since HOTWIRE doesn't.

You can also reserve the Dollar rate, which is cancellable without penalty, and keep trying PRICELINE every day in hopes that they'll get some inventory.

Maybe someone else will have some ideas...a coupon code or something.
