So I'm looking to take my girl to Vegas (we've been before and paid WAY too much for a room!) and this time I want to save some serious cash!

Check In: Fri, August 5th

Check Out: Sun, August 7th

Any 4 or 5 Star would be ideal, but the Palazzo or Wynn would be amazing in the range of $120-150!

Please help with a bidding strategy, as I don't see any around the dates I've selected.

Thanks SO much in advance,

Dillinger

PS - How often do hotels NOT give you the bed/smoking option you want? This kind of makes me nervous, I don't want 2 full beds in a smoking room!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please start by reading your messages.

Most hotels usually grant your requests as long as your room requests are for the same room class... as long as they have such a room to give. There are times when a hotel is full, sold-out, etc where they simply can't accommodate your requests, and there are a handful (forutnately such hotels are in the minority) who refuse to make any changes to hotel reservations made thru 3rd party websites.

With the above noted, be aware that at many 5* Vegas properties rooms with 2 beds cost more than a room with 1 King bed, regardless of how booked. Therefore the 2 bedded room is considered an upgrade and it becomes a bit more difficult for a request such as this, but even when such a situation exists, you can often upgrade for the current 'retail' difference in cost (ie- so if when you check in the retail rate for a 1 bed room is $200/nite and a 2 bedded room is $225/nite... you can often upgrade for an additional $25/nite fee... which is fair (imo) when there is a different in cost between the two room classes. Even if not offered, if your request for (in this example) a room with 2 beds is not available, you can then ask if you can upgrade for the current price difference)

If you'd like to move forward with PRICELINE, are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 4* or better for this stay? If the former, did you want to try for a 5* up to your $150 limit before lower your star rating and try for a 4 star?

Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly.

In Vegas, you won't have any problem getting a room with one king bed. Getting 2 beds in the room is usually the extra-cost option - although my experience is a tip for the check-in agent will solve this issue unless they are fully sold out of rooms of that class. As for smoking/no-smoking, the only issue will be if they are sold out of no-smoking rooms. I suspect you'll be OK in early August, as most hotels are nowhere near fully booked then.
