traveling woz Posted May 31, 2011 Report Posted May 31, 2011 Hey, I used Priceline recently for the first time to book in Seattle and ended up getting a 3 star hotel for $125 per night but I think I could have done a lot better. Now, I am looking to get a room in San Francisco (either near Union Square or Fisherman's Warf) from July 8-11, preferably 4 star, for $100 or less if possible. Based on reading this forum I think that's possible, I just don't know how. Any help you can provide would be awesome!!! Thanks,Traveling Woz
traveling woz Posted May 31, 2011 Author Report Posted May 31, 2011 Another question...cause I've been reading more but am still a bit confused. If I select an area such as Union Square East and bid on only a 4 star, and then if it doesn't get accepted. And the next time add a location like Fisherman's Wharf which doesn't have 4 star, should I raise my bid or keep it the same? (In other words: does adding areas that don't have 4 star hotels help get you a lower bid or does it just give you extra attempts to bid?)

traveling woz Posted June 1, 2011 Author Report Posted June 1, 2011 I bid $130 for 4*, 3.5*, and 3* in Seattle Centre, and Seattle Downtown for May 27 & 28. I ended up getting the Holiday Inn near the Space Needle. (I didn't however use any of the techniques listed on the site; I was new to the site and just dropped my star rating and raised my price so I may have been able to get it for cheaper.I am looking for Union Square East and Union Square West in a 4*I may be willing to move to the Financial District or SOMA but I am still researching how far away it is and how easy it is to move around the city from this area. I am looking to be able to explore the city, visit Alcatraz and do the touristy stuff (Any suggestions or advice?)

Nobody looking for Seattle information will know to look in this California thread for Seattle info. :)I am looking for Union Square East and Union Square West in a 4*I may be willing to move to the Financial District or SOMA but I am still researching how far away it is and how easy it is to move around the city from this area. Colfax Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 Now, I am looking to get a room in San Francisco (either near Union Square or Fisherman's Warf) from July 8-11, preferably 4 star, for $100 or less if possible. Based on reading this forum I think that's possible, I just don't know how.3.5* is the highest rating Priceline offers in Fisherman's Wharf zone.Do you have a preference between a 3.5* in FW zone or a 4* Downtown? And if you want 4* Downtown you'll need to decide which of the four core Downtown zones (USE, USW, SOMA, and Embarcadero) are acceptable. USE and USW are the zones closest to Union Square but I think your best chance of success under $100 will be in Embarcadero-Financial zone (because Hotwire has a 4* in Embarcadero for $111 and Hotwire's 4* in USE and USW are $140-150.)You can also try up to $100 in USE and USW first; then if unsuccessful try Embarcadero.Let us know how you want to proceed and someone will offer a strategy.
traveling woz Posted June 9, 2011 Author Report Posted June 9, 2011 Started bidding on 4* in Financial District for $90, offered me the option of $115 and it was guaranteed. Declined that offer, added USE and raised to $95. Added USW-Nob Hill and raised to $100. Added Marina and raised to $105. Got approved. Hotel looks really nice. Their website shows $239 per night for those nights so I'm pretty stoked about that. Now I just gotta find hotels in LA and San Diego.
