Rob_2610 Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 I am looking to bid for a 3.5*+ hotel (would like 4*+). Any tips or suggested price ranges? I would like to get a deal, but am glad to pay ballpark 100 for a nice 4*.Thanks in advance!Rob
Colfax Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding!3.5* is the highest rating Priceline offers in Fisherman's Wharf. Hotwire offers 4*. Do you want to bid up to $100 for a 3.5* in Fisherman's Wharf? Please affirm and someone will offer a strategy. Please use this PRICELINE link for your purchases.
Rob_2610 Posted May 25, 2011 Author Report Posted May 25, 2011 Thanks Colfax for the quick response. I would be willing to pay up to 100 for a 3.5 in FW. Does Hotwire have a bidding agreement with a 4* hotel that Priceline does not? Does anyone know which hotel I am likely to get bidding for a 3.5 on PRICELINE or a 4 on HOTWIRE?Thanks again,Rob

Rob_2610 Posted June 1, 2011 Author Report Posted June 1, 2011 I ended up opening up bidding to different dates and up to $150 with no luck in Fisherman's Wharf. I added the USE & USW and just booked the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental for $150 per night. My wife really wanted FW, so I'm hoping that the area is ok.Regards,Rob
Gallus50 Posted June 1, 2011 Report Posted June 1, 2011 The Mark Hopkins is on Nob Hill, which some would say is nicer than Fisherman's Wharf. FW is known to be the touristy area - not that many locals hang out there. There are lots of attractions and it's relatively clean. It's close to the water, so some may find that attractive. Nob Hill is more central to the whole city. It's an affluent neighborhood with great views, because of the hill. There's an intersection of cable car lines, so you can go down to the Embarcadero in one direction (California line), to Market Street or the Wharf (Powell-Hyde line). In the summer, the cable cars are crowded so walk downhill when you can, get there early or be prepared to wait. I'm sure you'll have a nice time - feel free to post with how you liked it.
