augustin25 Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 I put in a last minute bid and was able to get this hotel for $95. The bidding process was strange. I started looking for 4* hotels in Union Square West at $100 and went up to $120 adding Union Square East & Financial District-Embarcadero along the way and got rejected at all turns. I then tried for 3.5* in Union Square East starting at $90 and got rejected. A couple of bids later I had added Financial District & Union Square West to try at $95 and inadvertently added 4* and the bid was accepted, at $25 less than I had previously tried.

Colfax Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 Your subject line says 4* but Priceline rates the Hilton Financial District 3.5*. (The other downtown Hilton, in USW, is 4*.)Hilton Financial's 3.5* rating also explains the "strange bidding" you described. You didn't get the Hilton Financial when you bid to $120 for 4* because Priceline never downgrades a bid.Hope you enjoyed your stay.Btw, I was bidding for the same day as you. I bid as high as $90 for 3* in Embarcadero without luck. If I'd gone $5 higher it looks like I might have got the Hilton Financial too. Instead I switched to Fisherman's Wharf and got the Courtyard there for $75.
