TravelGurl77 Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Hello -I have placed multiple failed bids for Priceline > Resorts > Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage with a second bid adding Palm Springs area. I am now up to $73. I am hoping to win Hyatt Grand Champions or Westin Hotels. Travel dates are June 24-26th. I'm curious what price I should bid next, I started at $55 and go up $3 increments. Just don't want to run out of time. Thanks for your help!
Colfax Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Your stay is a weekend but rates aren't high, so I think you might still be bidding too early. You might try $75 at your next opportunity. Then if rejected book a cancellable backup and try bidding again in early June (or sooner if you see others reporting wins for your dates).Hyatt Grand Champions $184Miramonte $147Renaissance Esmerelda $159Embassy Suites La Quinta $101The Westin Mission Hills is only $119 on Hotels.com. If that's a cancellable rate you might book it as a backup while you wait. Or since Westin is one of your preferred hotels you might want to book Westin for this good rate and stay there, rather than risk winning a hotel you prefer less on Priceline.Hotwire has a 4* condo in Rancho Mirage-Palm Desert for $96 that looks like the Westin Mission Hills Villas. Please use these HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for your purchases.
thereuare Posted May 23, 2011 Report Posted May 23, 2011 TravelGurl77,Can you please follow-up your previous Hotwire Orange County thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay. Please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your future bidding. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
TravelGurl77 Posted May 24, 2011 Author Report Posted May 24, 2011 I bid twice today, Resorts > Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage > 65 (Just hoping maybe they would take it). Did not. Expanded to add Palm Springs at 75, my highest bid yet. Did not accept. The Westin $119 deal is full prepay. I believe you are right, it might be too early. Thanks.
Colfax Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 Thanks for the update, TravelGurl77. Let us know if anything develops. I predict success in June.
TravelGurl77 Posted June 27, 2011 Author Report Posted June 27, 2011 Bids Failed - Ended up booking direct through Westin at $99/night with $27/night resort fee. Non refundable rate.
