Hi,

I'm new to the priceline web site and love your site. I will be in Newport Beach August 26-28, 2005 and would like to stay at a 4* on the beach, or as close as possible. Can you give me some advice for bidding as I would really like to get the Hyatt Huntington Beach. I would like to know where to start bidding. Thanks for any information you can give me.

Are you aware you could get either the Hyatt Huntington Beach or the Hyatt at Newport Beach? both are listed as wins at 4* in that area so you have to be happy to win either. I believe weekends can be more expensive than weekdays so you need to consider that too. It may help if you list the rates that you see for your party for that dates off the Hyatt or any other website you are using. I booked this hotel (week days) direct via Hyatt.com and they gave me a second room at 50% off for the kids. I think I emailed them rather than use the reservation system.

Thereuare will be able to help I am sure when you confirm if you are happy to get either hotel.

So if you bid it is likely to be the Newport Beach Hyatt. If you are happy to go ahead and bid then at least you know what you are bidding for and can adjust your rate accordingly.

Hi! Thanks for your replies. I just checked Hyatt.com and they show availability at Hyatt Huntington Beach for $265 and Hyatt Newport Beach for $240. Either of these hotels would work, so I am happy with either one of them. I will try tonight. Do you suggest I start at $70 (I am trying not to go above $85). Thanks for all of your help.

I would say that is reasonable. It has been won for $69 for 4th July dates. Generally is between $70 and $80 from what I have seen.

I think bbbb must have made a mistake with the dates or there has been more inventory released.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Sorry,Hyatts system must have been down when I checked. I checked twice because I thought it was strange there were no rooms.

When I won 4th of July weekend for $69 the Hyatt.com rate was $240 per night

Well I just tried and took your advice and started with $67 and did free rebids up to $85 with no luck. I still have plenty of time though, so I guess I will try this again in 72 hrs. Do you recommend that I go any higher? Thanks for your help.

Just as an update, I have tried again with no luck - going up to $82. I still have plenty of time though so will keep trying every 72 hrs. Let me know if you think I should change bidding strategy. Thanks for all of your help.
