Traveler X Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 Hi All,I am trying to book a 4 star hotel at LAX for Tuesday 5/31/2011 for one night.I Tried up to 65 yesterday on Priceline on Wednesday and up to 68 on Thursday, but I keep getting rejected. I checked and saw that people were getting the Hilton LAX, or Sheraton Gateway for like $55 or $60, so I figured I would get it no problem. I have been using this site
Colfax Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 Welcome to BetterBidding, Traveler X.I'm seeing a Hotwire 4* at LAX for $77 now, but it looks to me like the Westin, not the Renaissance. Shuttle, Smokefree, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Laundry, Highspeed. The Renaissance Montura Hotel Los Angeles Airport is the only 4 star I can find that is closer than 2.5 miles to LAX, which is within the Hotwire LAX area distance. When Hotwire says "0.3-2.5 miles from LAX" it doesn't mean this particular hotel is within 2.5 miles of LAX. It means the center of Hotwire's LAX zone is 0.3-2.5 miles from LAX. Notice that every hotel Hotwire offers in LAX zone has the same "0.3-2.5 miles from LAX" tag. The distance info should be ignored when trying to ID hotels.Priceline usually beats Hotwire on rate so I expect you can get a 4* bid accepted on Priceline somewhere between $68 and $77. Maybe $70?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your purchases. Please let us know what you come up with, or if you have other questions. Good luck!
Traveler X Posted May 13, 2011 Author Report Posted May 13, 2011 Thanks Colfax,I tried Priceline again at 65 but was denied. When I added the estimated Priceline charges to 65 I figured it would come out to around 82. The total for Hotwire was 96. So I knew I only had 14 dollars to play with. I thought about trying some more on Priceline, but after reading the Trip Advisor reviews of the Westin, I decided to just go for it on Hotwire. You were absolutely correct. It was the Westin and I am happy. I was glad to use the link to HOTWIRE that was in your return message. I don
