Priceline Hotel: NYC May 24 - 28 help -- and free re-bids question

My companion has had no luck bidding up to $170 for 4*, 3-1/2*, and 3* hotels in TS or MTW. So it's my turn!

I looked at the calendar of wins and it seems others are getting better rates in these zones, but of course, the dates aren't the same. I'd be thrilled to get something under $170. I noticed that some of the good rates were booked only a few days in advance. My trip is 2-1/2 weeks away. I wonder if I need to wait.

Am I correct that for 3-1/2 and 4 stars, the following would be free re-bid zones?

UES

Queensborough Bridge

Long Island City

Coney Island

and that Brooklyn would be a free re-bid zone for 4*?

I'm ready to try -- and will use your PRICELINE link. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Are you only bidding MTW and TS... is there a reason you're not including MTE, CPS and/or ESB in your bidding as these all typically work well for the average user.

You have your re-bid zones correct at the 3.5* level... at the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones, so you're missing one of them.

Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? What is your maximum bid for this stay?

Thanks in advance for using the PRICELINE links on the board for your bidding... please click this PRICELINE link before replying.

Unfortunately, the prime dates in the Spring season do tend to be expensive or very expensive; further into the June season and especially once one gets to the hotter months of July/August, prices do tend to cool off. $175 would seem unlikely, given rates for TS and definitely may be tough in other Midtown zones. At the 3.5* level, the concerns would be MTE (a couple of MTE 3.5*'s are far E in MTE) and CPS (the 3.5* Hudson has extremely small rooms.)

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

My goal is indeed the least expensive 3* or better.

It doesn't seem like you're bidding in a manner in which your goal is the least expensive 3.5* or better:

I used your link and got turned down last night at $160 for 3.5*.
Have you done any 3* bidding yet??

I was turned down at $175 for 3* in TS and MTW. Turned down at $185 for these same zones for 3.5 and 4*.

Just found a "mystery hotel" -- 3* "Times Square/Midtown -- $158 at bookit.com. There's another 3* mystery at $178. But I can't find a definition of their zones. I've sent an email and will wait before booking.

I've never had to spend this much before at Priceline for a 3 or 3-1/2 star in these zones.

Sorry. I'd forgotten about this website until someone reminded. Hadn't used it since I signed up, and had to get a new password to start this thread. I'm now on board. Of course I'll share future wins.

FYI, still no response from the other site re: how they define zones. But if I can't get anything under $175 tonight, I'll probably book it.

Don't know if this is appropriate to post on this website. If not, I apologize, and assume you'll remove it. But I had no luck with my parameters at Priceline. Booked the 3* mystery hotel at another site and am very pleased to have gotten the Ameritania (230 W. 54th) for $158 oer night.

Thanks for your help.
