Ziek Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 I have used priceline once or twice before, but never when booking a trip to Vegas. I am leary because of the wide range of hotels. I want to ideally stay mid-strip or south strip. My fear is getting a hotel up near Stratosphere. If i pick 4*, what risk do i run of getting a north strip hotel? also, what price should i put for end of october?
thereuare Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! How firm are your dates? Saturday arrivals are very tough in Las Vegas. If your dates are confirmed, are you willing to SPLIT YOUR BID, given that some hotels won't even consider your stay given the Saturday check-in as well as the drastic price differences from Saturday nite to the other nites of your stay.Let us know the above, as well as your ideal budget, and we'll try to help you find the best deal for your trip. Ziek Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 My dates are firm. I have already booked the plane tickets. I might be willing to split my bid actually. I had thought about staying at a different hotel on saturday night, than the rest of the trip. I am hoping to spend less than $550 for the 4 nights, if possible. I realize that might be a little difficult, considering there is a Saturday night stay.
thereuare Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 It's probably a bit early for a really great deal in Vegas so i would try to leave some of your options open. This is what i would do:QUIKBOOK has that Saturday nite for $130/nite at the Tropicana for a Tower Room. This may be a pricing error since their Garden Rooms (of inferior quality) are selling for $198/nite. This is a 'prepay' reservation which comes with a $10 cancellation fee so if something much better comes along it at least gives you somewhat of an 'out'. Although the Trop is not my first choice in hotels, it may serve your needs well given that it's close to the airport and is still located on-strip.For the balance of your stay you can get the TREASURE ISLAND for an average of $129/nite. This is directly from their website so should be cancellable up to 48 or 72 hours before check-in.The above comes in within your budget at $517 total (plus tax). How does that work?If you book any/all the above please use the links in this post to begin your purchases. Ziek Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 That sounds pretty good. I was looking at Monte Carlo, and can get $119/night for Sunday-Wednesday. Is there an opinion of Monte Carlo as a 4*+ quality hotel?
Ziek Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 I tried Quikbook for October 22nd, and Tropicana did not come up. The only Hotels that came up when i searched for 10/22 were Circus Circus, New Frontier, and Emerald Suites.
thereuare Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Sorry 'bout that... i may have had a date change on me when i hit the BACK button (i searched for the 3 nites first) or maybe they caught the 'error' in the last few minutes and took it down?Assuming it's gone for good, i would then look toward the Orleans Casino who has a rate of $165/nite. Combining everything above just about hits your mark of $550/nite and is a nice hotel (nicer than the Tropicana, but not on the strip). They do have a shuttle that goes to the strip so at least you'll have an inexpenisve (read: 'free' :) ) means of getting there and although i wouldn't want to spend my entire vacation off the strip, i think it'll be sufficient for one nite.Everything mentioned above should be cancellable and hopefully you'll be able to book better deals as your dates get closer... but if not at least you have a gameplan and reservations within your budget.Does that work for now (until your dates get closer)? Ziek Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 That DOES sound like a good plan. Thanks for all of your input, i appreciate the help (even if you are a Michigan fan). hehehe.
thereuare Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Feel free to bump this thread up once your stay gets closer (sometime in August perhaps). At least now you know you have place(s) to sleep within your budget and can alsotake advantage of lower rates should they present themselves. Thanks for using our TREASURE ISLAND link for that portion of your reservation. dahammer Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Ziek, I liked the Monte Carlo, it was in a good location on the strip within walking distance to many other properties and at $119 this is a decent rate. Thereuare is really a Penn State fan, why else would the colors on the Betterbidding site be blue??? :)
