I will be driving to SF. Is there a way I could use the bidding option in Priceline and select hotels that have free parking?

Thanks.

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

Unfortunately, there is no way to select hotels that offer free parking (and it seems like fewer and fewer do in/near major cities) when using either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.

If you would like assistance with your stay, please provide your date/s of travel, desired budget per night and acceptable PRICELINE zones.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

The only area where hotels offer free parking regularly is around Van Ness/Lombard. I think this is the Marina/Pacific Heights zone, and not all of them offer it. So there's no way to be sure that if you bid on PL, you would get one.

You might be able to ID a hotel on Hotwire and LastMinuteTravel.com, then figure out if it has free parking. You would then also get a deal. Otherwise, you would have to book conventionally.

Every so often, a downtown hotel will offer a package or special deal with parking, but the only time the price is very good is if it is a rate you find on TravelZoo or TravelTicker.

SF is a tough town to park in. If you do book something through PL or HW and it doesn't have reasonable parking, do not park in the hotel lot. There are lots of independent lots in the city that will offer you better rates, some are even fairly cheap.

There may be a thread about parking in this site. I would look for it. Good luck.

If you stay by the airport, in South SF or San Bruno-SF North zones, you can get free or relatively inexpensive parking, like $6/night at most. The SFO South zone has more expensive parking. If you drive downtown every day you'll still be paying to park downtown though.

In the city free parking usually means a 2*or 1* motel property. A lot of visitors stay at these places because they are the cheapest option in the city. There's the Lombard and Van Ness strips like Gallus mentioned and also several around SOMA. There's a wide range in quality and price. What's your general budget per night for this trip? What are your dates?

I really like the Cow Hollow Motel on Lombard (Marina section). It has a funny name but is nice - a little better than a Holiday Inn. I think their rates are generally about $100 a night, which isn't bad for SF, especially when you consider the free parking (and in and out whenever you want). There are great restaurants around there, and it has less of a touristy feel to it than many places in SF. Ask for a quiet room (in the back - not on Lombard or Steiner) if noise bothers you.

They're pretty popular, so I doubt they participate with PRICELINE name your own price, but if the price is right for you, and you don't want to be in the touristy areas of Fish Wharf, etc., it's a great place.
