rxd Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Great site. I hope I'm not too late in bidding for these sites. I plan on traveling to the Huntington Beach area June 5th - 8th and then move on to La Jolla from the 8th to the 10th. I was really hoping to get the Hyatt Regency in HB and not the Newporter. I saw some posts suggesting I use Hotwire but no 4* was listed for my dates on hotwire in the Huntington Beach area. Does that mean the Hyatt in HB is booked up? Also, I would like to try to get the Hyatt in La Jolla and any suggestions would be appreciated as Hotwire seems to have it listed for above 200/nite.Thanks!
Blueskies Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Have you checked out Hyatt.com. Thereuare can perhaps say if there is a link to this. I can't see one.Anyway there are rooms available for your dates and Hyatt have a special sunshine on sale - get third night free so when you are there it would work out $450 for 3 nights ($225 x 2). If you have kids you get the second room half price through the family plan. I was looking for this one too but decided to go the conventional route as I thought it was too risky and the family plan eased the pain.La Jolla has availability too and the best rate I see is AAA for $215. May be worth a phone call. I dont know anything about this one but I suppose it depends if best price is a bonus or a necessity and disappointed you would be if you got something else instead of this one.Good luck
thereuare Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! There is no way to target the specific hotels you want using Priceline. If you're open to other properties and can accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating you specificy than we can help you with a strategy to get a good deal. rxd Posted May 7, 2005 Author Report Posted May 7, 2005 Thanks for the help. Sorry I probably should have posted in the Hotwire section.
Blueskies Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 If you are looking on HOTWIRE now you should get it for your dates but it is listed at $224 so Hyatt.com is better option with the 3rd night free and you know where you are booking.
rxd Posted May 8, 2005 Author Report Posted May 8, 2005 Thanks for the help Brochquine! I really appreciate it. I'll probably book it at Hyatt.com.
Blueskies Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 Thereuare,Can you please confirm that there is no affiliation with Hyatt.comThanks
thereuare Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Thanks for asking... none at the time, but we are currently working on it. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
rxd Posted May 9, 2005 Author Report Posted May 9, 2005 So I ended up bidding on priceline for my dates in San Diego and got the Hilton Mission bay by Sea World June 8-10th for 95$. I'm happy with the rate as Hotwire was showing it for 147 and the hilton site for 379/nite. It was my first time bidding and probably I could have done a few things differently but I'm still happy.
thereuare Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 I assume this is the 3* Hilton San Diego Mission Valley in priceline's Mission Valley zone? Was this your first bid in the zone at this star level? (if not, what was your highest rejected bid in this zone and/or your bidding history).Next time continue to ask for help when you look towards additional areas and we could probably both benefit.Enjoy your stay. TravelGuy Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 It would be the 4* Hilton San Diego Resort located in the Coastal zone.
rxd Posted May 9, 2005 Author Report Posted May 9, 2005 It was the 4* Hilton San Diego Resort. I was hoping to get this or the Hyatt in La Jolla. I started out bidding 65 and added the downtown area and eventually coronado. All 4* in those areas would have been fine with me. Eventually bid 95 and got the Hilton. It's listed as a 4* on PL.
thereuare Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Thank you both for the follow-up. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
