kyle2227 Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Hi guys! I found your site on google and I am very happy I did it looks like a very, nice, friendly, community! Made my first bid today for 4th of july weekend. I know that a lot of people plan vacations over holidays and hotels are at a premium so I thought $100 would be a pretty good deal. The dates my dad and I planned on are to check in on July 1st and checkout on the holiday July 4th for a mini four day vacation. So I made a bid of $100 for downtown north and downtown south. We want to see the Toronto Blue Jays play so we figured those ares would be some what close to the stadium.Priceline told me that my bid of $100 could not be accepted. They said that they don't normally allow rebids the same day on the same exact search settings (for example same star level) But they said something like they are making me a one time offer to make the same search again if I bid $125. Which makes me think I would get it if I bid $125. So what I am thinking about doing is increasing my $100 bid by $2 every day and see if I can get the 4* for less then the $125 they wanted me to rebid. What do you guys think? Thanks all for your help!
kyle2227 Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 Posted this in the hotwire forum by mistake. Is there some way it can be moved to the priceline forum? Thanks!

kyle2227 Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 Thanks for the reply! Downtown North or South is fine as they are both some what close to the stadium I believe as they are both downtown. I will check out the other thread you pointed me to. Thanks!

dc3 Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 The south zone is always closer to the Rogers Centre where the Jays play and there are some lower priced 4* hotels in that zone but nothing is very far. Check HOTWIRE for the dates and see what there is (but it divides on longitude). If you include the North zone in your bid then make sure to go down to 3.5* or you'll miss out on the Delta Chelsea.
kyle2227 Posted April 12, 2011 Author Report Posted April 12, 2011 Thanks for the information guys! Will try again tomorrow using all the tips found on this site! Thanks again all!

kyle2227 Posted April 21, 2011 Author Report Posted April 21, 2011 Used the PRICELINE link on this site. After a few days of unsuccessful bidding with counter offers as high as $140 I finally was able to get a hotel for $105. After taxes and fees came to about $122 a night for a four star! Gave me The Sutton Place hotel. Checked prices was around $190 - 200 ish on priceline and Hotels.com. Lowest price I saw on the hotel web site was around 175 ish. So I am happy. Looks like a nice hotel got good reviews. The only thing that stinks is it's like 25 ish dollars a day to park at the hotel. But other then that I think I did great considering it's fourth of July weekend.
AaronJB Posted April 21, 2011 Report Posted April 21, 2011 Congrats on your success. :)Very, very nice deal for this Sutton Place property.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
kyle2227 Posted April 22, 2011 Author Report Posted April 22, 2011 Thanks Aaron! Do you think if I contact the hotel I might be able to get a room with two beds instead of one? I know priceline says special requests can't be guaranteed but worth a try right? Thanks for your help so far!
thereuare Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 You can call the hotel and ask... nothing to lose by doing so, but every hotel has a different policy in regards to taking requests such as this. Most of the time they will note your request in the system but will tell you that there are no guarantees and whether they'll be able to meet your request or not is based upon availability at the time of check-in.Good luck.Enjoy your stay. kyle2227 Posted April 23, 2011 Author Report Posted April 23, 2011 Called and they said I would loose my deluxe room with a king bed if I wanted a standard room with 2 double beds. O well had no choice had to do it.
thereuare Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 At least they were able to accommodate your request for a room with two beds... a possible scenario would have been one standard room with only one bed.Sounds like it all worked out... enjoy your stay.
