OnTheGoAgain Posted April 8, 2011 Report Posted April 8, 2011 Hi,I'm looking for some bidding assistance on a 3 night stay at 4* in La Jolla area - I think that's the Coastal region on Priceline. I'd like to start with a budget of $100. I believe when a bid is won, it's for accomodations for 2 - anyone have advice on how to secure 2 beds? To call hotel prior to arrival or wait til check-in? Thanks in advance!
twizla Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 You can definitely request the #of beds at check in, they'll ask you anyway so do be too concerned. I wouldn't start at $100 for La Jolla right off. There are a lot of hotels around there. Dig for a deeper discount. Save atleast $20- $45 and bid at about $55. Depending on how soon you're going you can probably score a really good deal.

Thanks in advance!PRICELINE only guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy; you may be able to successfully request 2 beds from the hotel, but there is the chance that the hotel may be unable or unwilling to grant the request or may charge more. If there are more than 2 people in the party, HOTWIRE would be a better option, given that you can enter the amount of people in the room.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
OnTheGoAgain Posted April 9, 2011 Author Report Posted April 9, 2011 My first bid of $55 was not accepted. Not sure how much to rebid tomorrow. We are only 2 for the reservation so 1 bed could work but 2 would be better. Thanks again!
AaronJB Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 I would move up by $5's if your bid is not accepted. You can contact the hotel after booking to request two beds - the hotel may be happy to take the request, but it varies by hotel/city/day. Some hotels may say no (whether due to policy or availability) or may charge more.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 When bidding 4* in this region you have THIRTEEN re-bid zones... are you familiar with re-bidding and using your re-bid zones? If you're new to re-bidding please read this thread Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask any questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. If you read the link above and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. OnTheGoAgain Posted April 10, 2011 Author Report Posted April 10, 2011 Yes, I think I understand - add in a zone (ie Rancho Bernardo) which does not have any 4*, increase my bid and I can bid again < 24 hours. I assume I add one at a time to rebid? Great. Thanks!
OnTheGoAgain Posted April 10, 2011 Author Report Posted April 10, 2011 Won Hilton Resort/Spa Mission Hill for $70/night. I think I have status at Hilton so hoping the 2 bed request can be honored. Just checked online and rooms are $199/night so am pleased. Thanks all for your help!
