moshulu Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 I will be attending a huge convention later this month at the Ga. Dome and went with Hotwire getting this downtown hotel for 4 nights @ $60/night. The travel and hotel website's don't come even close to this price. I have been very happy with Hotwire over the years and never used Priceline because I felt I knew what I was getting. But now I see a 3.5 star was added @ $84/night and the HIS dropped to $57. Since this is my first reservation for anything < 3.5 *, I am wondering if I blew it because the convention hotel's are all sold out and I didn't want to wait too long and risk a much higher rate or even nothing at all. Both hotels are rated as Customer Favorites, but I suspect the 3.5* with restaurant, pool and fitness & Business centers might be better located and significantly better quality property. Does anyone 1) have any experience with the HIS and 2) have any info on the 3.5*? I know it's pointless to get any exchanges/refunds with Hotwire and I've been really happy with them ...but am having cold feet on this one. Thanks very much! By the way, does anyone have any thoughts on what the rates might have been for a downtown 3.5* hotel on Priceline?

moshulu Posted June 16, 2005 Author Report Posted June 16, 2005 This was an interesting experience. The lobby is quite nice and the rooms are average. Staff was accomodating. It is in a transitional neighborhood, and there really are no nearby restaurants/amenities except a really good pizza delivery place. It is only a 10 minute walk to the Ga. State University MARTA train station. Just be forewarned; check the Braves schedule before you book this hotel. The hotel faces two interstate highways and Turner Field. Traffic is diverted to one-way inbound/outbound around game traffic times; so you can literally sit in traffic, see your hotel and not be able to drive up to it without driving miles out of the way. And it may be a very long time before you can get into the driveway!
