nkcutter Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 San Diego SAN airport auto rental. Wanted midsize. Best offer on Hotwire or boards was about $27.50 per dayBid on 2/17/2011 for dates in early April. (sorry I'm posting so late) Priceline NOP. Bid $12 from an account with bonus cash which made my bid $13.67 per day = Yes (previously failed at $12 bid)Total price to me was $12 per day for 9 days = $108 + $55.37 = $163.37. (so add in bonus of $15).I have almost ways found Priceline NOP to be the way to go for auto rentals, and oftentimes waiting until a few days before is best. But of course you need to have a cancellable reservation in hand first. However, I did recently get my first disappointment when planning a March trip to Florida, where the rental rates for a full size (which I needed) just went up and up until they were $72 per day, and my reservation at $47 a day looked good. Priceline wasn't accepting anything below that.
