  1. On Name Price, had 9 bids that were acceptable zones for me (7 did not have a 3.5), so started at $48 and bid up. It rejected $58 before this. This is likely the same 3.5 star hotel in this area offered for $66 by PRICELINE EXPRESS, and HOTWIRE has it for $65. At $60, with taxes, costs $75.53. Amenities (not their full 2 column list, but what they show on express): Free Internet (in Room) Free Parking Indoor Pool Shuttle Non-Smoking Gym Restaurant Handicap Accessible Business Center
  2. Full Hotel Amenities Free parking Free Internet Indoor pool(s) Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Tennis nearby Spa services Accessibility Accessible for visually impaired In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Accessible parking Roll-in shower
  3. Using Hotwire, got Estes Park Resort, 3.5 star. 2 nights 5/10/16 and 5/11/16. 4 Adults (wanted 2 beds). Shown on Hotwire under Estes Park area hotel, 95% recommended. Amenities shown were: Free parking, Free Internet, Indoor pool(s) Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center. Pool(s) Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry This hotel also has spa nearby, tennis nearby, but does not show on hotwire. $112/night = 224.00 + 65.59 = $289.59 total. Reviews are good and I've been to their restaurant. This would be their standard room (no view). You can get similar room for $149 a night through some services; direct with hotel is $179.
  4. Bid on 3.5 stars. Determined I would have 7 bid zones; wanted SNA John Wayne Airport. Bid 55, 57, 58, and hit at $60. Doubletree Santa Ana/Orange County Airport. $60 + $14.02 taxes = $74.02. Hotel does charge $18 for self parking.
  5. John Wayne SNA airport in Orange County, CA. Accepted on first Bid for Priceline Name Own Price. Full size $22. Dates Saturday 1/23/16 through Monday 2/1/16. Avis, $22 for Full Size. 9 days, with fees of $76.18, total is $274.18 One thing to keep in mind when comparing and before deciding to bid is to notice that the taxes and fees, which you would think are standard for one price, nearly always come up higher when bidding. So, a $22 per day car can come to the same as $24 a day direct. I bid 3 days earlier. Bids of $19 for full and $17 for standard previously. So I started higher this time. Only full or standard car sizes were going to be acceptable sizes. The direct rates as well as Hotwire/Priceline for the in-airport respectable rental car agencies were showing extremely high. The economy type rental car companies are always questionable; dented cars, and long waits and no cars available, so I like to bid because Priceline does not include those agencies.
  6. Bid for 3.5 star 1/22/2016 - got the Wyndham Irvine-Orange County Airport Wanted Santa Ana/John Wayne Airport area only so I could get airport shuttle service and avoid renting a car and paying for parking an extra day. 3.5 star; so I could have 7 bids. PRICELINE Name Your Own Price. Bid 78, then 80, and got it on $82. including tax of 17.86 = $99.86. Apparently this hotel charges for parking, though I did not check how much. It has a restaurant/bar, and they'll take you in shuttle to restaurants or similar within 3 miles. Direct PRICELINE or similar this hotel is $101. Was not sure if this was the $98 for 3.5 star onPRICELINE EXPRESS; I thought that one was the Doubletree.
  7. Amenities free breakfast, free parking, pool, fitness, pet friendly, free internet, self serve laundry, 65% approval rating. Tuesday, October 5, 2015. $39 + taxes = $53.27
  8. 3.5 star Central Asheville with amenities of Resort, free parking, fitness, business center, pet friendly, restaurant, internet, pool, laundry, golf near, tennis near. 95% approval is Crowne Plaza Resort Asheville. There is not an extra resort fee. Wednesday, September 16, 2015. $76 + taxes = $92.04 nice place.
  9. Hotwire Oct 5, 2015. Alpharetta North 2.5 star hotel for $39 is Extended Stay American Northpoint East. I would not consider Northpoint area as Alpharetta North, because it's quite a bit further south than Windward Rd, which is the area I expected hotel to be in. I've never stayed in an Extended Stay hotel. We will have plenty of bedding and extra things with us, so that should help.
  10. Auto rental for TPA for 10 days - November 28 through December 8. Bid accepted for $11 Full Size. As always with rental cars, I first get a cancellable auto at the best rate I can find after checking over a period of a week. Had bid twice earlier this week, $9 for standard, and $10 for full. I could tell rates had gone up about $1 since then. (you never know whether it is good to wait or not). Today (day before travel) I used Name Own Price and first bid on standard car for $10. Refused, but they offered me $12 (for a total of $232.80). Closed the bid and started over (because I thought I might come back to that one). Then bid $11 for a full size. Accepted; Alamo. Total for 10 days is $231.25. The lowest they were showing for a full size (cancellable) was $13/day, so some savings. Nothing much offered on hotwire or carrentals.com unless I was willing to use one of the 'lesser' car agencies, which I tend to avoid (dented, higher mileage cars, and no Sirius radio). One word of warning on rental cars. Don't just look at the rate per day when comparing. Always look at the total you will be charged. For some reason, this can be quite different between 2 different car agencies in same airport. And different amount of fees per the type of car as well. Name Own Price and other unnamed secret car offerings often will show higher total tax/fees than you will accrue if you use HOTWIRE or PRICELINE named cars. I don't know why this is. TPA has high fees plus additional $5 per day facility charge; that is sticking it to the travelers.
  11. 3.5 St Pete Beach - Treasure Island for one night, 12/1/14. Pool, CONDO, free parking, bed choice available, free internet. 9+ guest favorite. Crystal Palms Beach Resort; it's across street from the ocean. Should be nice for the price.
  12. I actually got the list of amenities from your Bidding.Helper full list of amenities tab. And when I look at the booking now, that is all that shows.
  13. Hotel is in Richardson at I-75 and Campbell Road. Have never stayed here. Reviews are 'ok'. 3 star Richardson/Plano East area. Amenities are free parking, free internet, fitness, pool, business center, internet access, in-room accessibility. 75% favorable. Hot.wire direct price for this property was $86.
  14. I first tried Priceline Name Own Price, and bid $80 up to $86 on a 3*, including downtown as well. Amenities were Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Restaurant, Fitness, Free Parking, Free Internet, Free Breakfast, Business Center. Rated 95% positive. Total for 2 nights was $222. Kinda pricey, but better than direct. This is a highly regarded hotel in the area, so I'm happy. Amarillo downtown had cheaper prices on 11/5 only. Amarillo West/South had cheaper prices on 11/6 only. But I did not want to move hotels. For the 2 nights combined they each had a hotel for $99 on express.
  15. First bid on 3.5 star hotels, bidding $52 (they offered 68) through $59, using up my 5 bids; No deal. Closed it. Then opened a new bid, bidding on 3 star hotels, first bid of $60 accepted, upgraded to the 3.5 star Fort Collins Marriott. It's a nice hotel, centrally located ahd closer to Old Town than many hotels, though you have to drive to get to any restaurants other than the one they have in the hotel. They do a lot of conventions there, which I don't appreciate much. If you get a room far from the elevators, there can be a long walk from your car to room.
