bobatea Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Hello, Boyfriend and I are planning a trip to San Francisco for 4 nights, from 4/2 to 4/6.We have a limited budget of $80/night included tax and would like to get a deal as good as possible.Yup, sounds a bit greedy but we are students so we are on a really tight budget. Any input for a bidding strategy would be appreciated. We would also very appreciate your recommendations regarding the area of the hotel. So basically, the best bidding strategy for the best deal according to your opinion.Last time we got excellent advices for your stay in NYC. Better Bidding is the best of the best:).Thanks
thereuare Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 While i'm guessing your budget won't be enough for a 4*, you at least have a shot, and if you're looking for the best bang for your buck i'd at least try that first in the USE and USW zones. If this seems acceptable, you can try as follows:At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select USE and USW...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $78, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80Any questions feel free to ask. If rejected we'll weigh your next options. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. bobatea Posted March 25, 2011 Author Report Posted March 25, 2011 Thanks for your reply. If I understand you and the rebidding rules correctly, I should do the following:Select USEBid $55, if rejected add zone USWBid $60, if rejected add zone San Francisco South (since no 4* hotel in this area).Bid $65, if rejected add zone SFO North (no 4*)Bid $70, if rejected add zone Japan Town (no 4*)Bid $75, if rejected add zone Fisher Whalf (no 4*)Bid $78, if rejected add zone Civic South (no 4*)Bid $80Could you please confirm whether this is correct? Thanks again,
Colfax Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 You've named five of your six rebid zones correctly. The sixth one is Marina-Lombard.Good luck with the strategy thereuare outlined. Please let us know how it goes.
bobatea Posted March 27, 2011 Author Report Posted March 27, 2011 I have tried the above strategies but did not succeed. Then I tried to bid for 3.5* up to $75. No luck either. This morning I tried 3* and got Holiday Inn Golden Gateway for $65.
