syncro Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 When I saw this as a match on Hotewire going for $106, I decided to try my luck with Priceline where it's listed as a 2.5* hotel. I began with a bid of $75, added Marina as a free rebid and increased to $80, added Fisherman's wharf where I was pretty sure I would not get a hotel since I went up to $98 yesterday for a 2.5*, added Embarcadero and increased to $90 where nobody ever reported getting a 2.5* on this board and finally $95 adding Union square east. Needless to say, I could have landed any hotel and I would have been ok staying in any of these areas. Sure enough though, I got The Hotel California as expected. What I like about it is the free wifi and continental breakfast. Hotels seemed to be going for a high price these dates. I used the PRICELINE link to begin bidding.
Gallus50 Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 October is a very popular time to travel to SF. Better weather and lots of conventions. Booking early is probably a good idea, though you might have gotten a lower price a few months from now.
