fushionless
Hi,I would like to book a hotel for 2 nights (April 29 to May 1st).For me, my priority is the price and the location.I would like to bid on a hotel that's in the Midtown WEST zone. Midtown EAST is acceptable too.I don't mind the star ratings, although 2 stars or more would be preferable. How should I proceed with the bidding? What should be my starting bid, and what should I do if it is refused? How should I increase my bidding, and by what increment? Thank you very much for your assistance! Link to comment
AaronJB
Good morning. :)Please provide a follow-up for your prior Calgary Priceline thread (post what you decided to do for that stay in that thread, then reply to this thread and we would be happy to look into the above question.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. fushionless
I followed up to that thread. Thank you for your reply. Link to comment
thereuare
We typically don't recommend the lower star rated hotels in NYC. While there may be some properties which meet your needs, there may be others which do not, and with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you can't choose which type it is that you will get :) However, ultimately it's your stay and you know your needs better then we do.What is your maximum budget per nite (before fees and taxes) for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and please click this PRICELINE link before replying.Thanks. fushionless
My maximum budget per night is 150$, the cheaper the better. Would a 3-star hotel be considered acceptable? If so, I'll take a 3 star. How should I proceed and what should be my starting bid to maximize my chances of winning? Link to comment
thereuare
When bidding less than 4* in the MTE zone, some of the known hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway... would this be acceptable to you? Also, the MSG zone often provides good value at the 3.5* and under, is there a reason you're not including this zone in your bidding? What about the Times Square and/or ESB zones? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. fushionless
Yes, all those suggestions (MSG, TS, ESB, and MTE) are acceptable, as long as I would be able to get to either Time Square Station or Grand Central Station easily and in less than 20 minutes by foot, or in less than 10 minutes by subway/bus/car. My priorities are really the cost and the location, not looking for anything fancy, although I wouldn't mind it! Link to comment
thereuare
Times Square and Grand Central Station are about a 10 minute walk from one to the other, so some hotels will be within close proximity to one but not the other, so where exactly do you need to be close to for this stay?HOTWIRE has what i'm guessing to be the 3.5* Club Quarters Midtown for $107/nite which should probably work quite well for your needs and be centrally located... what are your thoughts on this property for the price? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare
To recap, you're looking for a 3* or better hotel in the MTW or TS zone with a maximum bid of $150. If this is correct, i would bid as follows:At the 3* level you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3* MTW...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* TS...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* MTW and TS...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130While i don't think the above will be enough, with time on your side, i would start with this, and if rejected post back and we'll revise to your $150 maximum bid.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
