connie Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 I've been reading your board for a while but this is the first time I post. I need to reserve a hotel in the Vancouver Airport area for 5/13-5/17. After a few unsuccessful bids on PL (up to $65 for 4*), I am trying to rethink my strategy. I considered booking the 3.5* (Delta?) through Hotwire last night for $54. Didn't do it and am regretting it now as I see it go up to $75 today. I think I can still get the 4* Marriott for $70 on Hotwire, but I'm curious what 4* hotels are listed in the vancouver Airport area for Priceline? I tried to look it up in your Priceline Vancouver hotel list but couldn't find any 4* in that area. Thanks and I appreciate any advices you can give me. =)
thereuare Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 We only have information on what has already been reported, so that is why there is no info on 4* hotels in our lists... there may only be one hotel and the price very high (relative to 3* rates) that it is rarely won.The price change at what you believe to be the Delta is normal Hotwire fluctuation, as i'm able to pull it up on at $63/nite on a current search. I am also able to pull up what i believe to be the Marriott for $68/nite and seems to get pretty good reviews. If you'd like to try for a 3* let us know and we'll supply a strategy for you to follow... if you go with one of the above please use this HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase. Scorp Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 I'm curious what 4* hotels are listed in the vancouver Airport area for Priceline? The 4* for Priceline may well be the Airport Fairmont. It is the only 4* that Expedia shows for that area and it is IN the airport, basically. The reviews on TripAdvisor are mostly glowing, but the direct rates are high - around $235 US and up for your dates. If it follows the pattern of some of the other Fairmont hotels (Empress, for example), it will likely have a high Priceline rate. My guess is that it would be over $100 (maybe up to $150) to win it on Priceline, but that is just a guess. But if you are in Vancouver for four or five days, why are you staying out at the airport, anyway? Why not stay downtown, where the 4* choices are quite good and the winning bid would probably be $60 to $75 or so (but haven't checked rates for your dates, so I may be wrong on this estimate).
