Hello again. I wrote to you several days ago about hotels in the LA area. I still have not finalized a deal there. My wife will be going over to visit my daughter, who lives in London, on the above dates (3/4 to 3/6 they will be traveling up to Edinburgh, and I already have a hotel reserved there). I would like to book her a 5* hotel for the lowest bid I can manage. I would like to just stay in the Mayfair Soho area, as I am looking for a zone that is pretty safe. I am a little nervous about the Marriott Park lane being up in the corner of that zone by the Marble Arch zone, as I remember that the Marble Arch area seemed a little sketchy when my daughter did a semester abroad there several years ago. What do you think I could get a 5 star in that zone for those dates for, and does anyone have any thoughts about the safety of the zone in general and the northwest corner in particular. Thanks again for all your help.

Please post only one stay per thread.. we'll use this one for the 3/2-3/4 leg of the stay, feel free to start a NEW TOPIC for the 3/6 stay.

I can't comment in regards to the safety as it's been a very long time since i was on London, so i'll leave it to others on the board who know the area better than i do to comment.

At the 5* level the Mayfair-Soho zone is one of the most expensive in London, but for your dates i think you may be able to get something for ~$160-$180 or so... what is your maximum budget per nite for this leg of the trip?

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Started bidding tonight. 5* Mayfair/Soho $132, rejected. Added free rebid zones, rejected at $142 and $152, accepted at $161. Room Subtotal: $322.00 (USD)

Taxes and Fees: $74.84 (USD)

Total Room Cost: $396.84 (USD). Intercontinental London Park Lane 3/2/11 - 3/4/11

did not receive any counter offers.

Upgraded my wife from a 3 star to a 5 star for only around $50 more per night, in a nicer part of town (had cancellable reservations for 180 pounds tax inclusive, which equals about $290.)

Thank you very much for your service, and I did use your PRICELINE link.
