volcardfan Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Would like to use the PRICELINE link to find a hotel in San Francisco. This is our first time in the city, so we're really not sure where to stay. Like to stay somewhere in the center, as we will have no car. Can you help me? I don't even know where to begin, i.e. prices, zones, etc.
thereuare Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 What is your expected budget and desired star rating, as that may have an effect on which zone(s) will be best suited to your needs this trip. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board for your purchases (please click this PRICELINE link before replying... thanks!) volcardfan Posted February 5, 2011 Author Report Posted February 5, 2011 Would prefer at least a 3.5* hotel. If the price could be kept under $100, that would be wonderful! Accessibility to places of interest is also important.
thereuare Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 Please do a little research first to determine which zones meet the needs for your plans best... USE and USW are typically considered 'downtown' and Fishermans Wharf is the 'tourist' area... i would look at these zones first to determine you think will best suit your needs this trip. Once you decide upon the acceptable zone(s) we'll be able to suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. volcardfan Posted February 12, 2011 Author Report Posted February 12, 2011 Yes, we would like to stay in USE and or USW.
Colfax Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Would prefer at least a 3.5* hotel. If the price could be kept under $100, that would be wonderful!Do you want to bid to $100 for a 4* in USE and USW first, then if unsuccessful bid to $100 for 3.5*?Or do you want the least expensive 3.5* or higher available in USE or USW?That is, if a 4* for $100 and a 3.5* for $85 were both available which would you prefer?
volcardfan Posted February 17, 2011 Author Report Posted February 17, 2011 I know from past experiences with 3.5* and 4* there isn't much difference, so I would rather start out bidding for a 3.5* at a lower price. between the two options, I would prefer the 3.5* for $85.
thereuare Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 So to confirm... you're looking for the least expensive 3.5* or better in the USE or USW zone with a $100 maximum bid. Is this correct? Please confirm and we'll suggest a strategy. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. volcardfan Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 I don't have a maximum bid right now - would just like to start looking for a $85 3.5* in those districts. I also know from past experiences I can also bid for a 4* hotel if I am rejected in the 3.5* range. I would just like to know where is a good place to start and if you know what I should expect to pay.
Colfax Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 The 3.5* in USE and USW are all $200+ for your dates so I don't think $85 will be enough but you've got lots of time if you want to try. You've got five free rebid zones for 3.5*. If you need help ID'ing your rebid zones please ask.I suggest $70 for a 3.5*, then raise $5 per rebid. You have enough rebid zones to go to $95 if you want. For $85 Hotwire has a 3* in USW-Nob Hill that looks like Best Western Hotel California.
volcardfan Posted February 19, 2011 Author Report Posted February 19, 2011 Okay, thank you for giving me a starting point. And yes, can you please share the re-bid zones?
thereuare Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Please read this Priceline Re-Bidding Explained thread and see if you can determine your FIVE re-bid zones at the 3.5* level. If you read hte previous thread and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you. Please click this PRICELINE link before replying, thanks.
