Love4City
I have been reading other posts and it looks like I can get Beekman or Hampton Inn Chelsea for under $200 per night. I am tempted to do it unless somone can advise differently. I would like to spend less but from what I can tell I would have to get out of downtown to do so. I thought about paying more for a 4* for the first 4 nights(sunday-wednesday) and then do something like the best western or Days Inn in Jersey for my last 3 nights. Never having been to New York I am not sure how important quality is verses location. We plan on doing a lot of touristy things. I mainly want clean, safe and convenient location. I have been looking on Easy click and have figured out the reverse lookup. It is my wife and I. Any advise is great. I tend to over evaluate things so part of me just wants to get it over with and book something.I have not tried hotwire or priceline. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! The Beekman is superior to the Hampton Inn.For an extra $7 you may also want to consider the Affinia Dumont (same owners as the Beekman) which i wouldn't say is better or worse than the Beekman, but gives you a somewhat different location (and a somewhat smaller room).NYC is all about location and quality... the city is condensed enough that almost everything has a good location as you only really need to be close to a subway, from there you can get just about anywhere. Quality levels are important as real estate is at a premium, so although rates are higher than what you've typically paid for a hotel elsewhere, don't expect a much larger room... with some of the lower quality hotels having rooms that are outright 'large closets' (not a factor with the Beekman and the Dumont since they're suites, which is one aspect that makes them such a great deal). dahammer
for the sake of marital bliss, by all means skip the Days Inn, North Bergen. :) Its not a great neighborhood and you will be riding the bus into the Port Authority Bus Terminal in the morning. That said, many of the Jersey City properties such as the Hyatt and Courtyard are adjacent to the PATH train going into the city. The Doubletree and Candlewood Suites are also close to the PATH stations. Staying in the city is preferrable, but these Jersey City properties can lower your hotel costs for part of your trip. :) I tend to over-evaluate things myself and it drives my spouse nuts as well, but you can get better accomodations and save $$ in the process. Love4City
Thanks for the input. Should I try something other than EasyClickTravel?Did the price go up on the Beekman since I last looked? Link to comment
thereuare
I checked all of the other sites that i would typically check and the above seems to be your best options. As well, EasyClickTravel is cancellable up until 72 hours before check-in date so this at least locks you into the above and then gives you the option to continue to do better should rates drop going forward. Love4City
I booked for 7 nights at the Beekman. Thanks for the help. :) When will my reservation show up in Beekmans system? I would love to call them and get a verbal confirmation.I have found what I learned on this sight to be very helpful. I will send all I know here in the future. Link to comment

Love4City
I received an email from easy click saying my credit card was declined. I called my card company and they say that they gave an authorization but the transaction never posted. The email had no contact (Phone)information and was from someone named Maria Otero. I am always a bit paranoid of doing purchases online so this is a bit disconcerting. The email wanted me to forward my credit card number from another credit card. This does not seem like a normal practice. I did not forward anything. Link to comment
