mizp Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Will be in chicago on January 2 - to January 5,2011Read someone won a priceline bid for $59 at Chicago (Millennium-Loop-Grant Park) Hyatt Regency, $59 ... 12/3/10-12/6/10I understand price would be differet for different period. What would be the best strategy for bidding room at 4* @downtown chicago? If possible would like to keep budget under $70 per night (excluding tax). Or is it unrealistic? Otherwise i would be willing to downgrade to 3.5*As always, appreciate your kind help.

mizp Posted December 1, 2010 Author Report Posted December 1, 2010 The Loop and NMA zones , which both are Dowtown Chicago. Hyatt Regency would be nice but I understand we cant really handpick hotel. Love this website. Won a bid for Westin Castle hotel in Toronto for $80/nite through this website link to PRICELINE.
AaronJB Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 While there is a floor that hotels will likely not discount below, rates for these dates are cheaper across the board than December, as January is a slow period in the city. If you are looking for the least expensive rate, I'd suggest bidding $50 for a 4* in the Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park area. If that isn't accepted, I'd try again with $55 for a 4* and select both the Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park area and the NMA-River North area.HOTWIRE is showing what would appear to be the Hyatt for $69, so my guess is that it may accept a PRICELINE bid in the $50-55 area. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 If you are looking for the least expensive 4* hotel in either of these two zones, i would try the following, using the prices suggested by AaronJB above. At the 4* level in Chicago you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select NMA and Loop...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $63Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
