bid $49 for a 3* hotel and got Anabella Hotel on first try

I tried bidding 3 days ago for 4* and 3* in Disneland area and started at the $44 price level but could not get a room. It did ask me if I wanted to add $12 and I would automatically be guarntted a room so price would be $56 but I said no.

I was surprised to get this on the first bid - maybe I should have bid lower and tired A+B method. But I am happy and less stressed now that we have room in two weeks.

I tried calling the hotel and seeing if I could request 2 beds but they said I had to contact Priceline. I tried explaining to them that everything on the priceline web site indicates that we are to contact the hotel directly and could they speak with a manager. They came back and said contact priceline. I called priceline and got to a travel specialist who contacted the hotel on our behalf. They put a request in for 2 beds but not guarnatteed. If available at check in, I will have the option but they will charge me a higher rate for the 2 beds. This is the first time I used PL. Is this normal that there is a hotel surcharge if you ask for 2 beds? Everything that I have read seemed to indicate that requesting a room was not a big deal but it turned out to be a very big deal....

btw-priceline was very nice and courteous but did not seem very concerned that the hotel did not know the priceline policies.

Most likely there won't be a problem when you check in, but I would try to arrive early if you can.

Did they say how much extra they wanted to charge for the 2 beds?

Check the Anabella hotel web page to see if they charge different amounts for 1 bed vs. 2.

The nearby Coast Anaheim said they would charge an extra $3/day for 2 beds for my Priceline bid, because they said that Priceline had requested a king bed, but it turned out they didn't charge me the extra amount.
