Priceline Hotel: 2.5* Guelph Staybridge Suites

Started at PRICELINE. My previous post was for 3 rooms and we got the Fairfield Inn. There are three 2* zones and I was bidding 2.5* so if the zone I want is A, I could bid: A, A+B, A+C, A+D, A+B+C, etc. I wrote out the plan to avoid mistakes. We needed two more rooms. So I started at 2.5* $58-reject, with counter offer to $72, $60-reject, $62-reject with counteroffer to $73. Bid $64 and it was accepted. Also, yesterday the previous successful bid gave me PL Bonus money ($50 for 3* or better at $10 per night until 12/31/10). The Staybridge and Fairfield are a few minutes walk from each other - take a look on Google Street View - and they are very similar. One observation: I had been successful the day before and was bidding for different room occupants, but Priceline made me wait 24 hours because it was a duplicate bid in their view. So if you are successful you still cannot bid again in the same zone. That's poor programming.

Thanks. We figured that it was a toss-up. It doesn't matter for our purposes. Since both have the same star rating and the same location and price, it is Priceline's policy to alternate the vendors, so it was predictable. Obviously, if you need all the rooms in the same hotel you should combine them into one bid.
