I started off trying to get a 4* hotel (Hyatt Regency). I started at $62, added Medford area at $67 then added S. Boston at $72 and was unable to find anything. I have stayed at the Hyatt twice before at $62. I checked on Hotwire and they did not have any 4* hotels. I have noticed in the past that the 4* hotels are only available on Friday or Friday and Saturday (not Saturday alone). This may a booking issue where the hotel is trying to fill both nights.

I then closed out my browser and started again. I noticed on Hotwire that a 3* hotel was available for $77. Going by this site and the amenities on Hotwire I figured it was either the Park Plaza or the Radisson. They are both near each other. I started searching for a 3* in the Downtown area at $52 and I received an offer to raise my bid by $15 to secure the hotel. I opened another browser, added the Medford area and bid $56 and got the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. I only needed to add $4 instead of the $15 they offered.

The hotel was very nice, close to the theater district and quite busy. After booking I had called the Park Plaza to try and secure a non-smoking room but the person at the hotel was a little rude and said that they do not make special arrangements for rooms booked on Priceline. (I have have never had a problem at other hotels secured on Priceline such as the Hyatt and Doubletree.) When I got there the woman at the counter was very nice and gave me a non-smoking room

P.S.

I did all of this bidding at about 5:15PM the evening I needed the room.
