jj denver Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 I've been using HOTWIRE for awhile now but just learned about this site. Cool! Really hope I can get some help since we are traveling to San Diego for our anniversary weekend. We have our first night booked at the Marriott on Coronado using points but are looking for Saturday and Sunday accommodations and don't mind changing hotels to the Gaslamp area. I decided on using HOTWIRE over PRICELINE since they separate the Gaslamp Quarter so no surprises with location. Here are the choices:Dates: 9/25/10 - 9/27/10#1. $135 4.5* =Boutique/Non Smoking/Fitness/Pool/Restaurant/Internet/Bus Center/ Spa#2. $109 4* =Non Smoking/Fitness/Restaurant/ Internet/Bus Center/Spa (Does this mean it really doesn't have a pool?)Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The 4.5* property matches previous reports for the Se San Diego while the 4* property matches the Westgate Hotel, so that would be my best guess for each. While HOTWIRE properties will have all the amenities shown, they don't necessarily always show all the amenities offered. In the case of the Westgate it appears that they don't have a pool... although you can get discounted passes to a nearby gym a few blocks away. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jj denver Posted September 15, 2010 Author Report Posted September 15, 2010 Thanks for your help. I read the reviews of Se San Diego and it has some major issues with noise on the weekends, and the Westgate does not have a pool on property. Given that we live in downtown Denver, we are leaning to continuing our stay in Coronado instead. There are no Coronado options on Hotwire for these dates, any advice for using Priceline?
thereuare Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 For Coronado what would be your desired star rating and maximum bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. jj denver Posted September 15, 2010 Author Report Posted September 15, 2010 The published rate for the Marriott was $199 so I put in a bid of $100 and it was rejected. Looks like I will need to go a little higher. Looks like someone got the Loews for $111 but I think the dates are different.
AaronJB Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 Unfortunately, rates may differ if the dates are different. Thank you for keeping us updated and for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links. Good luck with your next round of bidding and please let us know if you have any questions.
thereuare Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 For Coronado what would be your desired star rating and maximum bid???? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jj denver Posted September 16, 2010 Author Report Posted September 16, 2010 I've been trying on Priceline for the last few days with no success... here's the history9/25/ - 9/27 - $100 rejected / $115 rejected / $130 rejected9/25 (only) $125 rejectedNon refundable rate on Marriott.com is $199 so we are not that far away! Could it be there are just no rooms on PRICELINE for Coronado that weekend?HOTWIRE does not have anything for Coronado on these dates and refers to Hotels.com
jj denver Posted September 16, 2010 Author Report Posted September 16, 2010 I ended up using HOTWIRE for just one night in the Gaslamp for Sunday 9/26/10, price is $103 for 4.5* and confirmed at the Andaz. Amenities shown were the same as Se.
AaronJB Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 If HOTWIRE isn't showing any discounted rates, inventory may be limited for the weekend. What would be your desired max budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
AaronJB Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Congrats on your success. :)Very nice deal for this property! Please list the amenity icons that were showing with the listing. You can find the amenity icons under the trip information in your account on HOTWIRE.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
