Priceline Hotel: Help with a 3.5* and higher Petaluma 9/29-10/2

I will be visiting Petaluma 9/29-10/2 and I really want a 3.5 star or higher which I think is only the Sheraton....

Any advice on bidding success to ensure I get it for a good rate?

When you bid on PRICELINE, one must be willing to accept any of the possible properties - the Doubletree has also been reported at the 3.5* level in this zone, and there could be other, unreported hotels, as well. What would be your desired budget per night?

I am also looking to book 12 nights in Petaluma for early Oct 2011, I stayed at the Sheraton Petaluma a couple of years ago, and I thought I paid around $55 per night? I can't seem to find my original Priceline Bid (I'm pretty sure I did post it here).

I have bid up to $71 per night. My question is do you think I'm bidding too early for this many nights?

The reason I like to book early is to confirm my flight via Airmiles.

Just found my last bid was $65 per night, so maybe I'm too early? Or has the economy got that much better?

You very well could be too early. Many hotels don't give PRICELINE inventory nine months in advance.

The length of your stay--12 nights--could be an issue too. If the hotels are sold out just one night out of twelve that will cause all your bids to be rejected, no matter how high you bid.

Have you checked if the 3.5* hotels are available for your dates? If so what's the rate? Does HOTWIRE have anything, and if so at what rate?
