thig1313 Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 I was bidding on a 5* Hotel in Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South made my offer and rebid a dummy zone at a higher price and after it had searched the following message came up;Thank You for Naming Your Own Price – Unfortunately, we can't accept your offer. During our search, however, we did find special priceline rates available for your travel dates at the hotels shown below. It actually took me back to the page that list all the hotels. It took me away from the name your own price section.I have never had this happen before what triggered this response, usually it will say we could not accept your offer please try again by making a change to one of the followingThanks for your help
hohogap Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 It happens somewhat sporadically in my experience. Usually it just reverts to the bid again page, asks you to change one of your parameters, and re-bid. When the regular hotel listing page pops up it means your bid wasn't accepted. It usually happens to me after about 3-5 bids for the same general timeframe and distination. Hope this helps. You can always close the window and go back in to PRICELINE through this web site and it starts you at the bid page all over again!
thereuare Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 It's cross-marketing... PRICELINE knows you're looking for a hotel, your bid was rejected, so they're offering your some retail hotels to purchase. As hohogap states you can just go back and resume your bidding where you left off (duplicate bid rules apply). Although not the intention when made, the search box on the top right corner of this page comes in handy for when you're taking to the retail listings... if you start your bidding from that search box, and are then taken to the retail listings, simply close that browser and click the "GO" button here again... all the city, state, date, etc. information is saved so you don't need to enter it again and you can just continue your bidding where you left off. :)If you need any help with your upcoming stat feel free to ask for help and let us know the particulars (city, zone, star rating, budget, dates, etc) and we'll try to help. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you ultimately end up doing for this current stay or if we can be of further assistance. thig1313 Posted September 8, 2010 Author Report Posted September 8, 2010 Here is how I am biddingI am trying to get a 5* star on either Las Vegas Strip North or Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South. I started my bids and with each rejection I added a dummy zone and increased my bids slightly larger. Every 2 bids it would take me back to the list of retail hotels. I closed out my browser as you indicated and continued by hitting the Go button in the upper right hand corner. This has been very time consuming and I still am wondering why this has never happened to me before. I have used Priceline for about 10 years and this has never happened. After it had rejected all my offers, I had one last dummy zone left, Choice #15 Summerlin, but it had an umbrella or a palm tree looking design beside it, right below Summerlin it said RESORT available in this area. I did not proceed because I was not sure what this meant.Earlier when I checked to see the Star ratings for each area Summerlin did not have a 5* available, So I was going to use it as a dummy zone. It also did not have that design beside it either. I am not sure where this design came from or what it means. Please Help, by the way this is an Awesome website. How long have ya'll had this site ?I am so glad I found this website.
thereuare Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 In the star rating hierarchy the "resort" class lies between 4* and 5* hotels, so where the highest star rating is a Resort you can use it as a re-bid zone for 5* bidding... but not for 4* bidding. What are the date(s) of your stay? What was the amount of the highest bid you have made so far? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.PS- thanks for the compliments on the site :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
thig1313 Posted September 13, 2010 Author Report Posted September 13, 2010 Had alot of trouble on making my bids. After each offer that was not accepted I got redirected back to the retail list of hotels for Priceline. I closed out my browser as instructed in a previous post and had to fill out all my personal info again, but it was worth it. I bidded on a 5* Star for Nov. 2-Nov. 6. Here are my offers;Bid ....... $ 94 ....Strip South Vicinity....5*.........rejectedBid ........$99 .....added Strip North......5* .........rejectedBid ........$104.....added Boulder (Dummy zone) ...5* .....rejected, but a message came up that if I increased my offer by $25 ($129) they could guarantee me a hotel. I declined this offer and resubmitted another bid.Bid.......$109.....added Henderson (Dummy zone) ....5*....accepted and got the Palazzo Resort. So I am satisfied as I was trying to get either the The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Wynn or the Palazzo and I was trying to do this for under $125 so I met my goals.
