villan Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Hi I am a user from the UK who came across this web site by accident but find it to be an excellent source of info. Not sure if anyone can help but I use pricline.co.uk and was just wondering what people thought would be a good price to pay for a 5* strip hotel for 15th Sept to 20th Sep?thanks
pirate Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Hi Villan,I too am a UK Priceliner. Normally I am all in favour of bidding early and giving yourself the maximum time to secure a great deal, but on this one you may be best holding on a while. The 5* market in Vegas may well be going through a major shake up soon. Wynn Las Vegas comes on stream at the end of April and the new tower at Bellagio is in use. Add some other projects in progress and its not hard to forsee a lot more activity AT TIMES OF LOW OCCUPANCY. Of course during peak times it will always remain very difficult to obtain "bargain" 5* rooms.I would advise you to get a fully cancelable backup reservation at the best place you can find that has a price you can live with. Then monitor the market in Vegas for a couple of months. Its a good idea to check what big (40,000 delegates plus) conventions are in town during your stay as well.Final thought; your dates are Thursday to Tuesday, because Friday and Saturday are a lot dearer than Thursday, Sunday and Monday nights you will always end up paying over the odds if you bid this as a block. You may have to split the bid, possibly staying 4* for the Friday-Saturday part of your trip. Another good reason for a cancelable backup. The good news is that whatever happens the current exchange rate guarrantees us a good deal at the moment in the land of the free !!!!! :) Pirate
