Hotwire Hotel: Priceline Availability

Last time I bid on a hotel in downtown San Diego I was given the Sheraton Hotel and Marina on Harbor Island, which I wasn't thrilled about.

This time, before bidding, I checked the list of hotels available to book directly through priceline (not naming my own price), and I was happy to see that the Sheraton did not come up as an option. My question: Does this guarantee that I will not get the Sheraton by using the name-your-own price either? I was hoping to avoid it this time around. If this means that Priceline simply doesnt have any rooms in the Sheraton for my dates I'd like to get my bids in as quickly as possible in case they re-up on inventory.

No, it's two diffrent systems. You need to be willing to stay at any 4* or higher in the zone you're bidding at.

If you're not able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating you choose (or higher) then HOTWIRE may be a better option, where you'll be able to take an educated guess as to the hotel being offered before your purchase based upon the amenities shown OR perhaps at least know it's not the hotel you're trying to avoid (ie- if the hotel you're trying to avoid doesn't have a pool and the pool icon is showning for the HOTWIRE offering)
