audi Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Hi, I`ve been looking for some help in getting a 4* or 5* hotel on the strip for August 1-3 but when I look on Priceline`s Name Your Own Deal, `Strip South` no longer seems to be an option. The one closest to it is`` Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South ` --is that where I should be searching if I want hotels such as Mandalay Bay, MGM or NYNY--thanks!!
thereuare Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Yes, the correct name of the zone is "Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South"Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or, if you'd like help with a bidding strategy, let us know your maximum bid, if Strip South is the only zone you're itnerested in bidding (ie- any interest in the North Strip??) and if you're willing to pay more for a 5* vs. a 4* or if you're goal is the least expensive 5* or better for this stay. audi Posted July 31, 2010 Author Report Posted July 31, 2010 I won't discriminate between 4* or 5*, nor between the North and South strip... but it MUST be on the strip. 2 posts above this one, I saw someone succeed with $50/4* for NYNY--though I tried it for my dates, and was not as successful. I tried to rebid, including 4* AND North Strip but didn't work. Will plan on rebidding tomorrow... any suggestions??Also, saw a 4* South Strip for $59 on Hotwire, and saw on the Hotwire hotel list that it might get me NYNY/MGM/Paris or Planet Hollywood--am I better off with Hotwire? Thanks!!
yellowdog Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 audiAlso, saw a 4* South Strip for $59 on Hotwire, and saw on the Hotwire hotel list that it might get me NYNY/MGM/Paris or Planet Hollywood--am I better off with Hotwire?Would you be happy with $59 rate or do you want to keep bidding to try to save a few $ ?If you need help to ID the hotel so please list the amenties HOTWIRE associates with the hotel you're looking at and we'll have a look at this. audi Posted July 31, 2010 Author Report Posted July 31, 2010 Ideally, I'd love to spend around $50 for a 4*, and maybe up to $80-$90 for a 5* on either the North or South Strip. I have been reading both the Priceline and Hotwire boards, which is why I've tried previous winning bids on Priceline last night (read above post) but I've never used Hotwire before so I'm not sure what it will get me.The advertised 4*/$59 hotel is Las Vegas Strip - South area Hotel with the following amenities: Casino, Fitness Centre, Pool, Restaurant, Business Centre, Hi-Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby. When I checked your list of Hotwire hotels, it seemed to match up with NYNY, MGM, Paris or Planet Hollywood--was I reading that right? If it helps, it also says "This hotel typically charges all guests a resort fee regardless of how the room is booked. The hotel collects this fee of about $15 per room per night directly from you, so it won't show in your Hotwire
AaronJB Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 The 5* South would likely be Vdara. Please click "continue" on the 5* North Condo and 4* South Strip and then click "see all amenities" and note any additional listings beyond the ones above. Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Also, if you do go the PRICELINE route again, note that the Westin is in the Strip South zone but is located slightly off the strip... if this is not acceptable then you wouldn't want to bid this zone at the 4* level. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your bidding, searches and purchases.
