I'm a first timer and need a hotel in

Downtown Philadelphia 4/10 to 4/13 (3 nights)

tried 4* 60 $ and 3* 48 $ but was rejected at priceline.com (2 days ago)

how to get a 4* for 60 or a 3* for 50 ?

what is a possible price for less than 3* in Downtown Phili ?

Where is the bidding-page at HOTWIRE.com ?

There is no bidding with HOTWIRE.

Why don't you start with this thread: I'VE NEVER USED PRICELINE OR HOTWIRE which describes the similarities and differences with each service.

Then report back and we'll take it from there.

using Hotwire, a 3* appears that may be the Holiday Inn @ 4th and Arch for $72 and a 4* that appears to be the Shearaton Society Hill for $79. Using Priceline, the 4* in the waterfront is usually the Hyatt. Sometimes the prices we want to pay are lower than the price the hotels are willing to accept due to the available room inventory. It would be helpful to list your bidding history such as "bid $60 for the Waterfront area, but was rejected, added 3* and bid $48 but was rejected" or something like that.

Also, Downtown Philly has 7 rebid zones if you are looking for a 4* property, so you will need to understand the rebidding process by adding zones.

It seems essentially that you have already tried up to your limits, all you can do now is:

-lower your star rating

-increase you maximum bid

-wait and hope low priced inventory becomes available

-SPLIT YOUR BID

Bid 4* 44 $,48,50, 52, 54, rejected

4* 56 $ accepted (including taxes and fees its 67)
