Jamie15601 Posted July 25, 2010 Author Report Posted July 25, 2010 Thanks so much. One more question about NYC hotels. I'm traveling with my two boys, are the nights you bid on PRICELINE just for double occupancy? Or do the hotels not mind if you just have 1 bed and travel with 3 or 4? One of my boys will sleep in a pack and play while the rest can either squeeze into the bed or my other son will sleep on the floor.
AaronJB Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 HOTWIRE is generally the best option for NYC because you can indicate 2a/2c, while PRICELINE is just for double occupancy (and getting two beds is VERY tough in NYC.) However, HOTWIRE is at least somewhat more expensive in NYC. Using PRICELINE shouldn't be a problem, but you may wind up with a small room and 1 bed. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 One of my boys will sleep in a pack and play...I've seen some NYC hotel rooms which wouldn't be able to accommodate a Pak N Play. Also, do you travel with your own or looking for one from the hotel? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Jamie15601 Posted July 25, 2010 Author Report Posted July 25, 2010 Thanks. 1 bed doesn't bother me I just didn't want to show up and have the hotel say you have 4 people sorry you can't stay here. Like I said my one son will be sleeping in a pack and play and my other is small and can sleep with my wife and I.Yes we travel with our own pack and play
thereuare Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 I just didn't want to show up and have the hotel say you have 4 people sorry you can't stay here.I'm not going to say it can't happen as it is a possibility. The risk is greater in NYC then in most other cities in the US given many rooms are notoriously small and may only be fire code approved for double occupancy; however, i would think the risk would be less traveling with small children vs. if your children were teenagers OR you were 4 adults. For instance, land a hotel that just received an inspection and received numerous fines, they may enforce a double occupancy policy more so than another hotel. If a hotel does have an issue it would be more likely that they work out an upgrade (at an additional cost) with your to a room which can accommodate triple/quad occupancy.Ultimately it's a risk you'll need to decide if you're willing to take.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.priceline.hotirie Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
smartcookie Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 You really have to consider the fact that a room you may get will be so tiny that it only fits a bed and not much else, i.e. no room for pack and play or anything else. Rooms in NYC are tiny. I always the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links from this board for my purchase!
