TheCling Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 We are headed to San Diego 8/17-20 and wanted to stay close to Legoland. The highest star ratings for Priceline is 3 1/2*. I believe the only three in this category for that area are the following:1. Sheraton Carlsbad Resort2. Hilton Del Mar3. Marriott Del MarIs this correct? Can you confirm? Am I missing any?I have tried up to $110 already but hasn't been accepted. What should I be paying for one of these hotels? Please let me know. Thank you!
yellowdog Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I think you're looking at the retail side of PRICELINE. They use diffrent zones and sometimes diffrent hotel so we can't confirm this. Please look at this link: San Diego HotelsAlso please post the zone (NYOP, not PRICELINE retail zone) you want to stay in and we'll have a look at this. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
TheCling Posted July 24, 2010 Author Report Posted July 24, 2010 I'm looking at San Diego (North County Coastal). According to the link you provided, the only 3.5 for that area is the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort. What should I be paying for this location? Once again, 8/17-8/20.
Colfax Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Not every hotel gives Priceline rooms every night. For your dates Sheraton's rack rate is $228. Hotwire has a 4* Carlsbad for $166 (looks like La Costa, NOT Sheraton). Offhand I'd guess somewhere around $120-140 for a Priceline 3.5* (if available). If you don't win a 3.5* up to $140 now then you could be bidding a little early for this stay still 3+ weeks away.Let us know if you have other questions. Please start your bids with this PRICELINE link.
thereuare Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 ...the only 3.5 for that area is the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort. What should I be paying for this location?See the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List... while there may only be one hotel reproted to the board, there could be others not yet knows, or a hotel at a different star rating may have been upgraded/downgraded.So you're not bidding on a specific property, but rather any hotel in the zone that is 3.5* rated or higher.Based upon this info, and the post(s) above, what is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. TheCling Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 I believe for a 3.5* in that area I should be around $85-$120 depending on the time of year. Yes, I do understand I'm not bidding on one hotel. However, there isn't many choices when you get to that area vs. category (3.5>).
thereuare Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 At the 3.5* level you have NINE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* North County Coastal...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
