Priceline Hotel: bidding too late?

so, I'm trying to secure lodging for this coming week. but I only started bidding last night. after over an hr of unsuccessful bidding, I gave up. any suggestions, or have I simply waited too late.

Please provide what bids you have already made. Downtown properties look above-average price-wise for these dates on HOTWIRE, but Midtown hotels appear slightly more reasonable (although still on the expensive side) and Perimeter hotels (if Perimeter is acceptable) look noticeably more reasonable, with a 4* showing for $69.
