mdn
I am trying to reserve the Westin or Sheraton in Annapolis, MD from Sept 2, 2010 to Sept 4, 2010. I just bid $70 for 3.5* in Annapolis (downtown). HOTWIRE has the Westin (by description) for $135. I still have time so I am going to wait it out and try again. I will keep the board posted with my progress. I would prefer the Westin over the Sheraton, and I am willing to pay extra to guarantee it. At this point, I am going to try 3.5* a couple more times over the next couple days, and if I get to over $90 I will probably go with HOTWIRE and "guarantee" the Westin. This is Labor Day weekend, so the area is very busy. Let me know of any success or tips out there. And of course I am using the links from BetterBidding.com Link to comment

mdn
Just tried $95 for a 3.5* Annapolis (downtown), and got a counter-bid of $115. I will probably go with Hotwire at this point and "guarantee" the Wesin, I think it is a much better Property than the Sheraton. However, I have seen some success on the board of people getting the Westin through Priceline, so I am intrigued. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions. This is obviously a very busy weekend in Annapolis because of Labor day. My options are:Priceline 3.5* for $115Hotwire "4*" for $139Smoke Free RoomsFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessGolf Nearby Link to comment
thereuare
I'd agree that the best guess for the HOTWIRE property above is the Westin. It comes down to whether you're willing to pay a little more to increase your chances of receiving the Westin vs. a different 3.5* property in the PRICELINE zone. How much do you like the Westin vs. the other properties in the zone? If you saved $10-$15 but received a different hotel would it be worth the savings? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. dahammer
note that the Sheraton is located in the Annapolis zone, but you are bidding in the Downtown zone. You may want to try and undercut the counteroffer by increasing the bid since you have time on your side. The Westin charges a parking fee which is common for the hotels in the Downtown zone. The Sheraton is a nice hotel, but you will be driving or taking the hotel shuttle bus to get into the historic areas of Annapolis. Good Luck! Link to comment
mdn
Good point. I was under the impression there was also a Sheraton in Downtown, but it looks like the only other 3.5* in downtown are the Lowe's and O'Callaghan. I will try again and see if I can undercut the counter off one more time. I have not seen any recent posts of people getting the Lowe's or O'Callaghan, so hopefully the odds are with me. As for the other post...I am willing to pay an extra $20 to get the Westin, so if I can't undercut the counter offer by $10 or so...I will go with HOTWIRE. Thanks again for all the help. Thanks again for all the help.I am shooting for the same location 9/3-6. Hotwire (thru BB link) just offered me the 4* for $176 and the 3.5 for $123. Am guessing these are the Westin & Sheraton. Let us know how you did. Link to comment
mdn
I tried $100 for the 3.5* in Annapolis (Downtown) and still no luck. I did find the below coupon, which will save an extra $10 per day. It expires July 27, 2010. I am going to bid up to $115 now that I have this coupon, and then if no luck go with Hotwire. I will keep you posted. The Sheraton is a nice property. My parents will actually be staying there that same weekend. My finance lives in Annapolis and we are tying the knot on Sept. 4, 2010. From what I have been hearing it is a pretty jammed weekend in Annapolis. I prefer the Westin mainly for location and because the service is basically 4*.Coupon (but of course re-visit BB and use its links to reach Priceline before bidding): http://travela.priceline.com/budgettravel/ and then enter the code: IMISSU Link to comment
