dafoley Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 So i've been bidding for several weeks for a room in the USW, USE, Embarcadero, Marina and Fisherman's Wharf areas with no luck. I've been bidding for 3*, 3.5 and 4* but nothing at any star level. My highest bid was today at $115 for a 3*. (I had bid $116 for a 3.5*). Does anyone know if there is something going on that weekend? Anyone else been successful gettign a room that weekend?
Colfax Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding, dafoley.I don't know what's going on but rates are very high for your dates. September's a busy month in SF in general but I think there must be some special event that day too.Hotwire has:4* USE $2954* USW $2894* Embarcadero $2664* Nob Hill $3023.5* Fisherman's Wharf $159Based on those rates it could take more like $120-150 for a 4* Downtown on Priceline. Maybe a 3* or 3.5* in FW for $120-130?If you don't want to bid higher you could try for a 2.5* in FW (Radisson or Holiday Inn Express). Or book a cancellable backup reservation somewhere and keep trying your lower bids every few days, since your stay is still 2+ months away. Please use these HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for your purchases.
geopoliticus Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 The Oracle convention, OpenWorld, is from Sept 19-23.
Colfax Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 Thank you, geopoliticus. That explains it. And welcome to the board.
dafoley Posted July 15, 2010 Author Report Posted July 15, 2010 Thanks everyone! And thank you Oracle!
Colfax Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 Oracle World starts on the second night of your two day stay, and availability looks better (but still not cheap) for your first night, 9/18.Any interest in trying to win 9/18 Downtown and making other arrangements (East Bay, Airport, etc) for 9/19?
