Priceline Hotel: New York midtown east 4* 12/23/10 - 01/03/11

Hi just wondering if anyone has tried booking as far in advance as December/Jan 2010/11?

We've been looking at 4* hotels in Midtown East area they seem to be in the $230-$250 mark for the cheaper ones on other websites.

What bidding strategy should I use for this should I start at $100 or 150 I've noticed other people have been successful with 4* hotels in midtown east in July for $110.

Can anyone explain if it will be a problem trying to book 11 consecutive nights on priceline too?

The time shortly after New Year's can be low-priced. New Year's, however, tends to be crazily priced.

In at least some cases, if your bid for one night is not high enough, then you get none of the nights. This is why it can be tough to get 11 nights for a low price.

You should definitely book a cancellable bookup.

I'd also expect to break this up into several stays, if using Priceline, and not necessarily be successful for New Year's, although you may be lucky.

I'm sure someone with more experience in this city will comment.

Thanks for the advice on this it looks like this might be tricky for 11 nights in NYC. We are also staying in Sanfran 19-20th DEC and Washington DC 21-23rd DEC for 2 nights each as well so perhaps I'll start with these.

Looking at these dates in NYC, 12/23-26 is quite reasonably priced, as is 1/1-3; it's the middle (12/26-1/1 and especially 12/27-1/1) that gets pricier.
