TurboButton Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 Hi there, I'm new to this and would love any help.I need to be in the Century City area for business and apparently there's a bar exam going on at the same time so rates are a bit ridiculous. I'd prefer the Hyatt, which is quoting me $305/night. I tried priceline today and was a bit scared. Nonetheless, I bid $135 and failed. I also wasn't aware that you had to wait 24 hours to bid again. Given that the Hyatt is $305, any suggestions? I'm willing to pay around $165. Is this a reasonable request? Thanks so much!
thereuare Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!I assume you bid the Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zone when you bid on PRICELINE? What star level did you select? You can often get around PRICELINE's 24 hour lock-out period by using re-bid zones. If you were bidding 4* in this area, you have THREE such re-bid zones. See this therad: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained for more information and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board (since you're new to PRICELINE if you read the above and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you) It's highly recommended that you confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Let us know regarding the zone and star rating you're seeking, as well as any questions regarding re-bidding, and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Colfax Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 I need to be in the Century City area for businessPriceline's Beverly Hills-West Hollywood zone is much larger than just Century City area and you could win ANY 4* hotel in the zone. Eleven 4* hotels have been reported to the board in the zone. Hyatt's among those that appear most often but there's no strategy that improves your chance of winning Hyatt over the others, and if Hyatt is $305 for your dates (I haven't checked) it's not likely to be the 4* that would come up.HOTWIRE might be the better choice as you often ID the hotel in advance. You can check Hotwire for your dates and see if any of the Century City-Westwood listings match the Hyatt's reported icons in BetterBidding's Hotwire Hotel List. If the Hyatt's not showing you might find something else suitable that's in the Century City area at least.
TurboButton Posted July 20, 2010 Author Report Posted July 20, 2010 $122/night for a 4* Beverly Hills/West Hollywood. Hotel amenities are suite, fitness, pool, and high speed internet access.I'm hoping it's the Chamberlain but it says there are only 50+ reviews and 80% recommend. I think it could also be the Tower Beverly Hills? Thoughts? This is the best price for the area that I've seen in days! Thanks!
