Colfax Posted July 11, 2010 Report Posted July 11, 2010 Looking for 3.5 or 4 * hotel in north San Diego ( coastal ) for 4 nights from the 23rd.First congrats on your $80 at the Manchester for part of your stay. The two nights you left off your original plan are Comic Con nights and almost everything Downtown is sold out or $300+. Adajcent zones mostly sold out. Motel 6 Mission Valley $139.99. Priceline probably doesn't have those nights Downtown or adjacent at any price. Hotwire has nothing in Downtown, Gaslamp, Mission Valley. You wouldn't have won these two nights at the Manchester for $80 unless you split your bid the way you did.As for the two nights left: Still can not get anything for dates from 23rd to the 25th. ( Friday night and Saturday night) bid up to $155 from 3 to 5 stars.Did you bid to $155 for 3* in the North County Coastal zone too? Or just the Downtown-Harbor Island zone?Checking the PRICELINE and Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins I see nobody's reported a win at any price in ANY San Diego County zone on 7/22, 7/23, 7/24.
rock7777 Posted July 12, 2010 Author Report Posted July 12, 2010 I bid $155 3* most of the zones in San Diego area not just downtown. Finally i booked 23rd and 24th night through Expedia in Oceanside, CA for $163.00 per night + tax. 3* ( Holiday Inn Oceanside Marina - Harbor Area.) today the same deal is $180 at same hotel.Looks like no one in San Diego area (all zones)is taking any bids for 23 and 24th nights. even 2* is going for $169 in downtown area.
Colfax Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 Holiday Inn Oceanside Marina has been getting pretty good reviews overall. It's almost new construction and near waterfront. Almost any other weekend $163 might not be a good deal but this weekend isn't normal.Glad you got it settled.
wheelanddeal Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 I'm so jealous... what a great hotel and great deal you got. I'm paying $99/night for the Sheraton across from the airport for the same basic time frame. Good job and thanks for sharing... even if I am jealous!
