Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Hilton Quebec

Hi,

-Been bidding for the Quebec city area using the PRICELINE link as recommended.

-Prefer to stay close to the Old City and at least 3.5 stars.

-Party will have 4 adults plus a baby so two rooms would be better.

-The stay is for 3 nights from 7/1 to 7/4.

-Bidded for 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, to no avail. I used both my wifes and my accounts to place bids alternatively.

Question: I've seen lots of posters had won $50 hotels with 3.5 star rating. I understand the time slot is critical but I really don't want to spend more than 70 bucks since I'll be paying for 6 rooms all together. I never got the counter-offer. I also tried the 'expand the zone, increase the star' approach, again, to no avail.

I also tried Hotwire and the hotel close to Old City is $129. I'm not sure if it's for a 2-bedded room. How can I check? Nevertheless, not really willing to pay that much.

Please help. What did I do wrong? Did I miss something?

I've been a long time lurker and never used PL/HW. I found this site very helpful. Anyway, any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Rates are date specific so you can't really compare them.

If you have reached your max is your only option to start over and bid for 3* or wait and see if PRICELINE get any additional inventory.

I never received any counter offer or tips about how much I should add to my bid. Why?
It's no standard on PRICELINE that you get this.

Best guess would be Best Western City Centre.

For that time frame you're looking at about $95/night +/- a few bucks depending how lucky you are. I booked 7/1-7/3 for that much. Scored the Hilton which is a 3.5*.

Good luck!
