Hello!!

Thank you so much for your help in advance...

Is there a cheap, yet decent hotel that I could bid for around Los Angeles?

For $40 and under?

I'm going to be in the area from 6/19-6/26 (7 nights).

Thank you!!

Welcome to BetterBidding.

Have in mind that you have tax/fee to pay. So you're looking at a bid amount of $33.

I think this is hard for a decent hotel. Would you be ok to stay in Torrance/Carson area?

Thank you for your reply!

Torrance/Carson area is okay.

Is the neighborhood fairly safe?

Is there parking at most of the places around there?

Although I prefer to stay in Los Angeles.

I am willing to go up to around $50 (including tax and fees)...

Are there any beach locations for that price?

Ideally I wanted to stay in the Los Angeles area for half my vacation and go to a beach location the other half (Redondo/Manhattan Beach, Long Beach, etc)... maybe 1/2 hour away or so...

Also, if I do not bid, but choose my own hotel... are there fees and taxes to pay, as well?

Or is it included?

Thank you so much for your help!

I doubt that you will get something in the beach area for this kind of money. My guess would be that LAX is closer to your budgett.

Also, if I do not bid, but choose my own hotel... are there fees and taxes to pay, as well?

Do you mean if you book directly or HOTWIRE? Yes, you have to pay tax. If booking with HOTWIRE you also need to pay a booking fee.

I can't tell if the Torrance/Carson area is safe. I have never stayed there. I asked you about Torrance/Carson since HOTWIRE got what it looks like a nice 2* within your budgett.

Let us know what you want to do.

There are hotel occupancy taxes to pay, however you book the hotel. If you book direct you don't pay the Priceline or Hotwire transaction fee though. Priceline and Hotwire are usally less expensive than a direct booking, even after their transaction fees. You can see the bottom line price on Priceline and Hotwire, including taxes and fees, before you purchase. If the hotel charges for parking and/or internet those aren't included.

The only LA zone where I think you might win something for $40 is LAX zone---either 3*, 2.5*, or 2*---and most of those hotels charge extra for parking. Does that interest you?

If you can raise your limit to $45 you might win a 3* or 2.5* in Manhattan/Redondo Beach zone, and pay parking is a possibility there too (with street parking nearby).

If you won't pay to park then you're looking at suburbs--Torrance/Carson or some other outlying areas.

Since this is for tomorrow night you should probably book your first nights first, so you'll know where you're going to start. If you book your first three or four nights now on PRICELINE you can book the rest once you get to LA. If you like the first hotel you win you can try Add a Night to get it for the rest of your stay.

Are you flying into LA or driving? If driving from what direction? That might affect the suggestions I make.

Thanks for your advice.

Yes, LAX sounds like a good option.

The star rating seems to be higher, but costs less in LAX, as opposed to other areas.

I'm wondering if most LAX hotels in my range charge parking fees? And around how much?

Would there be a problem parking in Los Angeles, if I drove there?

What's the best deal I could get?

I see that Priceline has a few 3* LAX hotels anywhere from $82-$95 and Hotwire has a 3* for $49.

Also, Priceline 3.5* $92 and Hotwire 3.5* $62.

What are some of my options and tips for getting the best deal in my budget?

Thanks so much for your help, this is my first time trying out "Name Your Own Price" and I was very lost, until I came to this website!

Thank you~

If you bid Priceline in LAX zone you should plan on paying to park, around $10-20 night, depending which hotel you win.

Pay parking is common at popular tourist sites all over LA.

If you'll pay to park I suggest this:

1) Click on this PRICELINE link

2) Bid $40 for 3* in LAX zone. If rejected...

3) Bid $40 for 2.5* in LAX zone. If rejected...

4) Bid $36 for 2* in LAX zone.

If those don't work I suggest:

1) Click the PRICELINE link

2) Bid $40 for 3* in Torrance-Carson zone

3) Bid $40 for 2.5* in Torrance-Carson zone

4) Bid $30 (thirty) for 2* in Torrance-Carson zone

OR

on HOTWIRE purchase the 2* in Torrance-Carson-Gardena (probably Howard Johnson's) for $39. I would just buy the first three nights to start, so you can see if you like the hotel and location. If you do you can purchase the other four nights later.

p.s. I'll be away the rest of the day, but others will be around to respond. Good luck!
